Sounds like another great addition. He is responsible for a lot of William & Mary's top players over the last few years. I love the fact they have someone on staff who is very familiar with the CAA opponents. I think this is a huge asset and we will be well served by the move. I was always a fan of Shaver and his being the top assistant under him for a number of years is a plus.

Excellent hire, imo. So far Schrage is 2/2.

Oh for two. You will see about Lewis. Gone before he contributes, which is his history. Why hire Holmes? If you want a Carolina guy who knows the league you hire Jack Wooten. Knows the league, knows the players, knows the community. Oh, that's right! Its all about family. Whatever family.

As he's not actually a coach, not a critical position. Holmes - excellent hire. Understands North Carolina and the conference...

Totally agree with - phightingphoenix1. Lewis keeps moving up which I think shows what a resource he may be. Holmes has a wealth of experience.

Two solid hires by Schrage. Needs to bring in his own guys. Last staff failed badly on recruiting trail.

Coach Holmes is a major loss to W&M's program. He has been the backbone of our recruiting, and will have immediate impact on your efforts in rebuilding. His dad is the winningest coach in Indiana HS basketball history, and Jonathan is a winner. The Tribe will miss him greatly. Our loss is your big gain. Oft chance that Matt Milon may follow him. Tribe fans hope no one else.

I would be OK with an experienced player like Matt Milon coming in from W&M.He did enter the transfer portal. He would be a Grad Transfer and be available to play right away. Elon could use some experience losing the guys they lost to Graduation and with Swoope leaving. Milon shoots lights out from three. He was a 3-Star Recruit who got a lot of D1 offers that originally went to Boston College before transferring to William & Mary. You know there will be a bit of a transition period with new coach and new system and new recruits. I would be OK with a guy like Milon following Holmes to help bridge the gap.

Does the CAA even allow intraconference transfers? I know some conferences do and others don't. I should know the CAA's rule, but I don't.

I had kind of thought Shaver would retire as W&M's coach and Holmes would get a shot at the job. The firing really surprised me.

Seems like the AD had a personality conflict or something to prove. Either way, it blows my mind he was fired. Very happy to see a successful recruiter at our level come on board. Thanks for the input nicktribe. Welcome Coach Holmes.

Who is our third assistant? Who is our inside presence, rebounder?

Who is our third assistant? Who is our inside presence, rebounder? Definitely a small lineup. Tallest players currently in the lineup are Poser and Radja listed at 6' 8".

I’m not worried about the height stuff. Our league is not full of tall front courts. We need to be focused on great guard play and adding some athletes. The CAA is a wing driven league.
