A win is a win is a WIN. We dominated statistically but some mistake kept The Citadel in it and we held on for the win. The last gasp play reminded me of when Wofford completed a hail-mary to beat us a few years ago. Needless to say, I was nervous. Congrats to the staff, players and Coach T on their first of hopefully many wins at Elon.
Offense - A What a difference a week makes. The OL still had some shaky moments but overall, they did what they needed to - overpower a smaller DL. When Cheek has time, he’s fantastic. The thing I like out of our WR corps is that they complete the catch and are physical. Our run game is great when we go North and South. Not East to West.
Defense - B+
Our special teams put our D in some bad spots. However, they made plays when they needed to and did a good job against the option attack. Which is not easy. My only worry is we tend to get aggressive in the secondary and bite hard sometimes. That frees up receivers. We’ll have to cover a lot better against CAA teams. Well done overall!
Special Teams - F Can’t allow a punt to get blocked, EVER. Also, the Citadel must have seen something on film for the onside kick. We must get this cleaned up.
Coaching - B The team bounced back from a tough loss and had to face a triple option attack. Well done in prep for this game. No win is ever was and this was a prime example. Congrats on the first W. Our OL needs to continue to improve. If we can block this year we can do some things. Hopefully the trend continues in an upward trajectory.
Richmond will be a battle. Up there, a team that probably hates the fact that Elon has beaten them twice in a row. They will be hungry. They were once a standard that we aspired to. Now let’s show them we have passed them.

We Won!!!! We had poor field position from not fielding or returning punts and kicks or gave them great field position on blocking our punts and recovering on-side Kick-offs. And We still won. We had several procedure infractions on the OL & WR's And We still won. Gave up some fluky passing plays on D And We still won. It was a hot day. And We still won! Students left after Halftime! energy died, tailgates ran out of beer, And We still won.
Let's dominate and smush the Spyders

That's a fair assessment. That one "F" nearly cost the game, and sure kept the score from being a fairly wide margin.

Polls don’t count for much, but the team re-emerged at #25 in the Stats Poll and #24 in the AGS poll....sitting just outside in the coaches poll.

Agreed that early polls don't count for much. FWIW the Massey composite rankings has us at 27. As seasons progress, I've found Massey to be the most accurate, which isn't necessarily saying much.
