Hello Elon Phans I run The D1 Docket on Twitter, I aggregate all the information I can find online about non-conference games and organize it a spreadsheet each offseason. I also put out a good amount of FOIA requests and talk to coaches to scoop games all offseason. Message boards with connected boosters are a great source of information. I try to check up on them regularly but I'm only one person, if any of you guys hear about a game feel free to tweet me a link to the board and I'll make sure it gets added to my spreadsheet. Thanks, and have a great season! P.S. I have a contract for you guys I can't break yet (deal not finalized) but it's a home/home with a quality mid-major.

If I had to guess my pick would be UCF. Schrage was an assistant under Dawkins at Stanford and the program seems to fit the profile of a "quality mid-major".

Updated 20-21 Non-Conference Schedule: Nov 25th: North Carolina Wesleyan Nov 28th: High Point Dec 6th: @ Duke Dec 8th: @ Howard On the road to 26-0 Howard has 4.5 star freshmen Makur Maker at center. That should be a good test for Elon's big men. I also thought High Point's arena was supposed to be ready this season, but maybe Covid delayed it. I assume this means we'll go to their place next year. Go Phoenix!

Nov 25th: North Carolina Wesleyan Nov 28th: High Point Dec 3rd: Mercer Dec 6th: @ Duke Dec 8th: @ Howard Dec 12th: @ UNC Dec 19th: UNCG Go Phoenix! As an avid student fan, I am upset with the way we are trending with our scheduling of non-conference games. Teams get better by building chemistry through blowout wins versus bad competition. Coach Matheny understood this. For the Schar to get packed one day, we need to show the ability to win big at home. We are simply not at a point to compete with Mercer/High Point/UNCG. Transfers are NOT the answer at the mid major level and Schrage has brought 3 in over the past 2 seasons. Gerald Butler reminds me of the experiment gone wrong, Egheosa Edomwonyi, who was a Transfer from Rice back when I was 8 years old and going to Elon games with my dad. Coming from Rice in 2010, and playing in the 2011 and 2012 seasons, he barely average more than 1 pt and 1 Reb per game but started 27 games his senior year. This took away valuable playing time from Brian Dawkins who could have been the cornerstone big man we were waiting for if he got more time his Freshman year. Every minute of court time is crucial for young guys and we cannot be wasting it on out-of-shape transfers.

Transfers are NOT the answer at the mid major level and Schrage has brought 3 in over the past 2 seasons. Disagree on basically all counts. Mercer and High Point are absolutely teams we should look to be able to compete with here and now, those are not any manner of powerhouse programs. The team can learn more from playing decent teams that test us early in the season than playing cupcakes anyway. I'm not sure why we would look to anything Methany did as the blueprint for success, since he basically didn't have any. Winning big at home isn't going to be an attendance draw if the wins are coming against no-name schools nobody has ever heard of or cares about anyway. As far as your transfer complaint, way too soon to say that our current transfers aren't going to pan out. Maybe let them show what they can do on the court before we jump to conclusions based on something that happened under a different coaching regime a decade ago. This team probably has more talent top to bottom than any team in the past decade. I'm willing to let Coach Schrage run the program as he sees fit for a few years and see where it gets us. That being said, glad you are a big fan, and regardless of our disagreement I'm sure we are all excited to see the Phoenix in action this year (assuming we are able to complete the season).

ncjon I will reassess my "hot take" when Gerald shows the ability to score against a Division 1 team. At most I will make him the first ever recipient of the "Andy Pack Award." This award is given to the player who is the leading scorer against our annual D3 opponent because he can function as a D3 transfer if his game cannot withstand the CAA gauntlet. We have been playing a team in NC Wesleyan's conference the past few years, William Peace... Top Scorers Tonight vs NC Wesleyan November 25, 2020 Butler 19 Mcintosh 18 Final 82-52 15+ Point performances vs William Peace... November 11th, 2017 Seibring 15 points Final 96-53 November 11th, 2016 Swoope 16 points Seibring 19 points Final 101-68
