We are playing a SEC school and…….we try to run up the middle twice on the 1-yard line. Play calling has been silly at times tonight, but solid effort.

Overall I'm pretty happy with our performance. Trish made the point that Vandy has already had their season opener so they didn't make the rust mistakes like we did early. The last 3 quarters we beat Vandy 24-21. Concerned about Joey and I didn't see Purcell in the 4th quarter. Wondering what's going on there. I'm interested to se how we do in Spartanburg next week.

I wonder if Daughtry's catch will make sports center/College Football Final?

Was going to post last night and decided to give myself some time to digest the game.
Outside of a win, I don't think we could have expected a better game than what we saw last night. In no way was Elon outmatched and the team fought till the very end. Going down 21-0 in the first quarter could have sent everything spiraling. Instead the team pulled themselves together and went punch for punch the rest of the way. The quarterback play of McKay was reminiscent of Riddle - and maybe better. The kid has the size that would have made Riddle a Pro. Incredible arm strength and accuracy. I know it is one game but it is hopefully a preview of what's to come. This offense looks like it is going to be able to turn up the heat on our opponents to keep up which will do wonders for our D. I thought we should have kicked the FG at the very end to give the team a chance at another onside kick. McKay's arm strength would have allowed for an end zone heave if recovered. At the same time, we have such a strong kicker... scoring would have allowed the offense to travel a shorter distance to kick a game tying FG (with a successful 2 pt conversion and onside kick). 6 one way, half dozen the other. Overall, a lot of positives to take away and pretty juiced to see how the rest of the season plays out. Last night I saw this program take another step forward. Wofford and Gardner Webb are going to paint us a clearer picture. Both are must wins before we get to the gauntlet of conference play.

I couldn't be prouder of our guys. They played their hearts out to the last down. It was thrilling to see McKay and the receiving corps step up. Baughman's injury looked bad; I hope we get some news soon. With Baughman out, we need to protect McKay. Yes, he can run, but why risk injury with no solid backup? On a related note, I hope the staff is riveted on recruiting the new generation of QBs.
Finally, I'm now confident we can compete in the CAA this year.
Go, Phoenix!

I thought Elon looked really great playing an SEC team on the road. Was very proud of them.

Any news about the injuries to The center and tight end? What happened to Witherspoon?
