There is no shame to losing to Rhode Island or New Hampshire. There is much shame in a complete lack of execution. It is disheartening to see two straight weeks of flat play. We are getting bullied upfront and it has been exposed so teams are watching film and attacking us.
I like Trisciani and I think he fits Elon well. However, I think he needs to really look at these next three weeks as an audition for his coaches because if he wants to build Elon in this conference you have to have big, physical, and dominant linemen on both sides of the ball. Also, it’s not just offense. Defense has been inconsistent and just was disappointing today. Hope to see a strong effort next week.
Go Phoenix.

I agree with this statement, but this is the first game we've played poorly on defense in the 2nd half. So while it isn't just offense, it is primarily the offense with roots in play calling and non physical OL play. Until we get an OL that can blow a DL back on every play and open up holes when they need to, we need to change our philosophy toward scoring lots of points early on.

We can't beat Delaware if we play like we did today and last week. We should not take UAlbany or Hampton for granted either. Both the Danes and the Pirates can beat the team that lost to UNH today. Nevertheless . . .
Go, Phoenix!

It’s very irritating to know the level of firepower this team has and to only see it used in the 4th quarter. It’s not fair for the fans and certainly not fair for the players. Reminds me of the 2014 basketball team.

Just a few more post game thoughts then I'll leave it alone. I do not believe there's a better QB or a better receiving corps in the CAA than ours. McKay is a respectable pocket passer, but on play action and rollouts, there is just no one better. Also, up tempo plays make him even better. Even when he can't find an open receiver, it is rare that he loses yardage or throws an interception. Parham, (out due to injury for this game), and Daughtry are great route runners and have great hands. Brayboy and Bonner are also deep threats with good hands and good speed. Miller II is a top notch TE with good hands and also a good route runner. These guys are also good down field blockers. Other receivers, Dasilva, Moyer and Ogunmola would be starting for any other team in the CAA.
We have good RBs in Hampton, Griffin and Dixie, but our run game is not the best in the conference. Hampton often makes something out of nothing. Griffin and Dixie both have great acceleration and Griffin is a great outlet receiver out of the backfield. Our OL often does a good job at run blocking, but not consistently. I think our OL has a ton of potential. However, we need to improve footwork and physicality for both pass and run blocking. We are just simply not a team that can consistently depend on 5+ rushing yards per play. Blocking and vanilla play calling prevent it.
I may be wrong about all of this, but I'm not. It seems as though we are attempting to force this team to be a rush first team, using up tempo, play action & roll out passing only when we're in panic mode. I believe this team has the ability to blow out the competition. I think we should be averaging 35+ points per game. We absolutely have the game to do this with no change in the way we direct our defense, (not withstanding the last game). We just need to utilize our strengths better. Some would make the time of possession argument. Well 3 & outs rushing and being 11th out of 13 in 3rd down conversion do not help with TOP. Again, we just need to utilize our strengths better.
Last post UNH game thought: Unless we beat Delaware and win out, we only have McKay for THREE more games. Why not let this offense off the leash? Let them have fun and see how many points they can score?

There will be no changes philosophically unless and until there is a coordinator change. There will be no better line play until we get a new and better o line coach. Their problem now is not size but technique which is taught in the spring and summer camps. Conditioning seems to be a problem as well. Why else would you need to sub out your cbs and lbs and defensive line on the second and third series of the game. Granted there might be a time when you might need fresh bodies in the game but not as early as we do. We don’t sub out the OL and QB. We just don’t have the depth of talent to be afforded that luxury. This was one of our most promising groups and they just have not lived up to their talent level. They don’t seem motivated. Now on to basketball and that debacle.
