If we win out, and Delaware beats Villanova, we would be Co-CAA Champions with Albany, at least that's the way I see it. I would think this should get us a playoff bid, correct?

I’m sure there is a formula for the auto bid in a co-champ scenario. However, a 7-4 CAA co-champion Elon would 1000% get an at-large bid.

We wouldn't get the Auto due to overall record. our SOS will help us out, but our past playoff record would hurt us. I think we may be on the outside looking in

Overall record isn't a determining factor in the auto bid. There are so many tiebreakers that are all in-conference – H2H (obviously wouldn't work in a 2-way tie with UA), common opponents, point differential in conference games, etc.

In a 24 team playoff, the co-champ of one of the best FCS conferences will of course get a bid. Not to mention we have TWO Top 5 victories this year. To think we would be borderline, or “outside looking in” is crazy. This is the FCS playoffs guys. We would be in.

I think we may be on the outside looking in Firefighter, I love you but if the Phoenix get to 7-4 with two top 5 wins and two losses to conference champions (Gardner-Webb and NCCU) and an FBS loss, they have to be in. Delaware’s schedule was extremely soft and the brutal schedule that the Phoenix played should pay off.

NCCU will be a conference champ, but of the MEAC which is one of the bottom 3-5 ranked FCS conferences. They were ranked #14, (ranked #7 now), so that wasn't what I would call a bad loss. GWU will not be a conference champ and their conference overall isn't that great, (IMO GWU was a bad loss). However, the two top 5 victories should offset the losses. Assuming we win out, and Villanova loses to UD, We would be co-conference champ & I think that makes us a lock for a playoff bid. Gotta win out though.

EPX, I agree that Gardner Webb was a bad loss but they are literally at the top of their conference with the tiebreaker over UT-Martin (who is nationally ranked at #17) and two games remaining against bottom of the conference teams. It's a bad loss for Elon because it could keep them from seven.
It's simple, just win the d**n games left.

At this point, they can only control winning.

I'm not as confident about our chances to make the playoffs, even with wins over both Richmond and Hampton. Nor am I confident that we are a playoff caliber team. If we make it, I'll rejoice with all of you, but mainly I want a winning season.
Let's not underestimate Hampton. Their overall record equals ours. They beat Richmond. They lost to Campbell by only 3. They have a very dangerous quarterback in Zellous and a talented running back in Burris (offensive player of the week). They're ahead of us in scoring, touchdowns, and total offense. They lead the league in rushing.
Nevertheless, Go Phoenix!

Win both and in, formula seems straightforward to me. Assuming they win both (big assumption, but I believe!), just praying the new AD is willing to actually be competitive with a bid to host a playoff game. I know the atmosphere will probably be lacking considering it’s thanksgiving weekend and there’s no students, but we have shown an utter inability to win on the road In the playoffs, and are substantially better at home.

Elon should win out. Playoffs? Playoffs?? I guess it really just depends on what the others team of head of the Phoenix do this weekend.

UR plays Albany. Albany picked by 7.5. I find myself pulling for Albany on this one. It sucks that conference members are playing each other this early. Villanova plays Youngstown St. Nova is picked by 6. Definitely pulling for Nova here. Delaware plays Montana. Montana is picked by 18.5. I hope it works out that way with one last big Blue Hen A$$ kicking, the metaphorical door hitting them in the butt on the way out.

I'm not a fan of Villanova, and feel that they're overrated, though they did beat Delaware convincingly. If Downing had been available that day, I firmly believe we would have defeated Nova.
Go, Phoenix!
