while i love the atmosphere at alumni nothing beats a cool crisp march afternoon, a slight wind into right field and the first hot dog of the season. Baseballs in my blood, and its this time of year that i get ancy. So with the start of the season right around the corner does anyone have any insight on the season. Have we found another number 2? Any more on the bricking in of the Stadium? Have they moved the video board from the football field yet? Is it wrong to spit sunflower seed inside?
Heres to another good season, lets just hope weve rebounded from last years mediocre showing.

You know, its funny, we've been spoiled by the baseball program. The have a "mediocre" winning season and we're all down about it!! But I am also excited for the baseball season. The team has some great players, but pitching may hurt just a little bit.

That UNC game is being played about 2 miles from my house at the USA baseball training facility. Can't beat that for convenience.
Go Phoenix!

This is probably one of the most unusual schedules I have ever seen Kennedy produce. Thanks a lot Big Ten....
Anyway, enough of that. Wake, ECU, Winthrop, Coastal makes another solid home schedule. I wondered what took us so long for us to play Winthrop. Surely, it wouldn't hurt the schedule. Also glad to see ECU back. Billy Godwin is a great coach and his good friends with Kennedy, so expect the Pirates to be on the schedule every year as long as Godwin is around.

They have removed the metal bleachers behind homeplate and are replacing them with 600 seatback chairs (similar to UNCG). While this is great it's leading to the school charging for baseball games this year. They are also fencing in the remainder of the park. You can still bring in your chair and/or blanket and sit on the 3rd base side, you just have to pay to get in.

That's great news; I had no idea they were making these changes. I have no problem paying to see the games. I'm sure a few won't like it, but if it translates into better facilities I'm sure most won't mind.
Go Phoenix!

I usually only make it to 1 or 2 games during the baseball season, but I also don't mind paying to get in. Will students also get in free to these games?

I'm sure students and facstaff will still get in free like at all other events. The first home game is 5 weeks from today and there are no bleachers and no fencing around the rest of the park. I don't doubt they'll have the seating area done, but I have a hard time believing they'll have the park fenced for this year. They've also removed the center field batting cage and have added a double tunnel (though not convered or indoor, unfortunately) down the right field line.
I don't think the video board is being moved over. Anyone have an official word on that?
