Today is the first day the team can hold full practice, which leaves exactly 21 days before the season opener vs. LaSalle on Feb. 22. Because of the NCAA-mandated later start this year, teams have to get their 56 games in about three weeks less time than last season, so Elon plays 56 games in 77 days.
That results in them being scheduled to play on every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from the first day of the season through the end of April (classes? who needs time to attend classes?). That schedule would wreak havoc on the pitching staff anyway, but is especially tough with Romo out and probably means there will be a lot of ugly midweek games with high scores and a lot of pitching changes.
Can't wait for the season to begin.
