Why does Elon schedule home games during fall break? Oct. 13 Ga. Southern hell the band won't even be there, plus it kills our home field attendance average. Why

The SoCon does it, not us. I guess this will be another example of "poor home field attendance" for the other schools to use against us.

well us alumni will have to step it up that game. Maybe we can rig it get all the students to get there tickets early and then have a few students just go in and out fo 30 min hell if we do that i think we could get a sell out

Sounds like a good chance to invite a local high school band (or two or three) to perform. Western Alamance is so close by...and Burlington Williams is not far...bring in their bands, cheerleaders, dancers, and related parents and friends for cheap tickets (but tell them they have to stay the whole game and not leave at halftime after their kids perform). Make it a "community" day...have local soccer or football kids play mini-game at halftime...and maybe have the bands play something like America Beautiful at end of the game to get people to stay and show some Patriotism. I'm not as concerned about our overall attendance average as I am showing supportive noise to the guys out there on the field.

never will happen,i had a friend a few years back that said there was almost a riot of whites and blacks. Elon would not want to promote that immage. the band maybe but cheerleaders no, what if one gets injured not covered by insurence. Fans no you ever been to a highschool game recently, too much responsibility to patrole. Its not a bad idea but it will never happen, tooo much can go worng

we could record the previous games crowd noise and play it over the loud speaker during the game

"Western is basically a bunch or rednecks and lower class african americans. No offence ment by that. but i know people that went there and just a few years ago there was almost a riot of whites and blacks." Wow! No truth to that statement at all. My wife graduated from Western in 1996 and I know several people who either go there now or have graduated from Western recently. That statement is totaly false. Western has been by far the best High School in Alamance County for some time now. It's the only High School in Alamance County to be classified as a school of distinction within the last 10 years. They ave the highest SAT scores in the county. Where do you get this? You apparently don't know much about Alamance County. You sure your not thinking of Cummings?

the guy i knew that grad from western in 2003 said he was almost expelled for starting a riot. he told me there was a bunch of tension between whites and blacks that year. I retract my statement but the 15 i knew that went to western were redneck, but im one also. I apologize i guess i got a biased view from my friend

still i keep to my statement that Elon will never promote all highschoolers to the event, little league yes because there supervied. I can just imagine gettign a bunce of HS from different schools in one place would not turn out so well

I went to Williams and would have much rather have gone to Western. There was tension between blacks and whites at Williams too.. and I would imagine at most schools. No idea what it is like now. I'm a redneck too so maybe that is why I would have prefered Western. Nothing but a bunch of stuck up preppy rich kids at Williams.

Williams: 8% Hispanic, 31% Black, 58% White Western: 2% Hispanic, 12% Black, 85% White The two schools are very similar in their levels of achievement, though my sense is that Williams has more at the very highest end and the lowest end and Western has more in the high-middle range and a more unified student body (which is both good and bad). Western has clearly made huge gains in the past 10-15 years while Williams has clearly declined since the city-county merger. Some of that decline is demographic, but a lot of the decline can be reversed through strong leadership, which the school has sometimes lacked in the past decade.

initial post was We have a problem, community day is a doable thing but every game should be that and more, to fill up stadium each game there has to be student and community support. We can get 3,000 folks anytime and its looks empty 11,000 looks overflowing, been there on both accounts ..... We need atmosphere & spirit there every home game!!!!
