Billlingslea Will Camp at NC State By Matt Long
Fort Mill DE Chris Billingslea (6-5 220) has received a lot of attention from USC, Wake Forest, and NC State, but is still awaiting his first offer. Other schools that have shown interest include Georgia, Coastal Carolina, Elon, Citadel, Charleston Southern, and Wofford. Billingslea has been active on the camp circuit, as he has already attended prospect camps at USC and Wake. He also plans to camp at NC State tomorrow. He said he has worked with his mother to make a list of schools and the days that he will try to visit them. "Hopefully, I'll get to all of them," Billingslea said, "It's pretty much all of the schools that have shown interest in me." Coach Ron Cooper is recruiting Billingslea for South Carolina. "I've had a lot of contact with them," Billingslea said, "I've gotten mail, phone calls, and I worked one-on-one with some of the coaches at the camp. He said that he believes Wake Forest is closest to offering, "I feel they've shown the most interest in me."
Merrifield Camps at Clemson By Matt Long
North Mecklenburg OL Brian Merrifield (6-4 275) was at Clemson for a camp last Friday, as the Davidson, NC native works to pick up his first offer. "We did a lot of footwork down there," Merrifield said, "I talked with some of the coaches, including (TEs Coach Billy) Napier a little bit." Merrifield also camped at Duke and UNC. He has also attracted interest from NC State, Furman, Wofford, Elon, and Wake Forest. "I've got no favorites right now," Merrifield said, "I'm keeping it neutral." The North Mecklenburg team will be going to a team camp at Furman in a few weeks, and Merrifield said he plans to camp at NC State two weeks after that. Merrifield says he wants to visit all of the schools that have shown interest in him, and hopes that one of them might offer a scholarship soon.
