Well guys, we're now something like 60 days out from the season. It looks like folks are thinking very highly of South Florida. They're ranked #25 in the preseason poll.
If Kirby is the starter, he is seriously being thrown to the wolves!! I think it will be a great learning experience for him, taking on a top 25 team.
Anyone have a depth chart to post?
Here's the way I see the season playing out:
South Florida (L) - 49-10 W. Virginia Weslyan - (W) 45-15 Liberty (W) - 27-24 ASU (L) - 34-13 Western - (W) 35-10 GSU (W) - 24-21 Wofford (L) - 28-7 Chatt (W) - 14-13 Furman (L) 28-21 El Cid (L) - 28-3 Stony Brook (W) - Can't predict a score, I know nothing about 'em.
Liberty is a tough game to predict. Lindy's has them ranked in the top 25.

I pretty much agree with what you have here, I think that USF could score more then 49 but I dont know if they will, I think that WV Weslyan will be as bad as Lembo wants to make it, Liberty will be a easy win, ASU still not there, Western have to go there but I dont think that they will be much better then last season so I still think it will be a win but it will be a close game, GSU their offensive style will be much like Elon's so it will be a high scoring game that is a toss up, Wofford will be close but they are ranked high in pre season polls so I will give them a slight edge, Furman will be a close game but again a slight edge to Furman , the Citadel has been getting progressively better under Coach Higgins but I think that Elon will pull off an upset down there in Charleston, and Stony Brook will be an easy win, but having said this there alot of questions that need to be answered like replacing Chad and Wes, so I would think that the verdict is up in the air on this team.

i disagree on the app score, its a little high. Ive been predicting a 7-14 pt game. Remember last year we hung in there all but 5 mins of the game

EF, I think the App game will be a close game for a while, and our mistakes will be limited.......but I think in the late 3rd or early 4th they'll pull away and score 2 TDs to break it open.
Wofford will have what it takes to hang with App the entire time, but I don't see anyone else in the conference giving them a scare to the last minute.
....I also don't think that Liberty is a "sure win." That one could go either way!

I agree with Elonpride, I wouldn't count Liberty as a pushover team. They are again ranked Top 25 by Lindy's. The USF game will be over by half-time with us scoring a TD or two in the final few minutes. BUT AT LEAST WE ARE PLAYING A BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM!!! (Trying to get the new lingo in there as well). It's too bad Duke doesn't want to play us though!! As for the rest of the predictions think they are pretty much on target. As I said in a previous post I hope that the ASU game is close with it being at home and family weekend. Stony Brooke should be a win as well as they are just now getting scholarships....what does that mean?? A SEASON OVER .500!!!! Here's to hoping...small steps but it's a move in the right direction!!

"It's too bad Duke doesn't want to play us though!!"
I think we have Duke on the schedule for 2010.
Nice assessment EP.
Go Phoenix!

Not sure what "pre-season" ranking means anymore...I've seen at least three different ranks for USF>..one as high as 17...one 21...and apparently there is one for 25. At this point, it would appear we will be severely outmatched, but you never know...they may be looking past us to their ESPN2 game with Auburn (I think) the next week...and UNC the following week. As for Liberty...I am not nearly as confident as you guys are...I think that could be a loss...hoping not, but I think it definitely could be...but I think we will beat The Citadel.

I agree with most opinions here that 5-6 wins is a reasonable expectation for this year's team. But I think the team will be more competitive against the better competition than in the past. And I think 08 will be a breakthrough year for the program with at least 7 wins.

Coach Leavitt is not one to run up the score. In addition, because we play Auburn the following week, I don't expect we'd want to open up the playbook.
That said, we had a very close call against a very bad FIU (0-12)team to open up last year's season, so who knows...
Looking forward to a bunch of you coming down. We'll make sure to come over to visitor's section to say hello.
Also, feel free to ask questions about places to stay and things to do, for those of you who plan to be here.

Leavitt does not run up the score like some other (ex)Florida college coaches do...cough...cough (Steve Spurrier). Leavitt has been quoted giving Elon a bunch of credit. He has stated if we want to win we really need to come to play.

I agree with my fellow bulls here......Leavitt will not run up the score. Looking forward to a great game and drinking with some Elon fans.
Oh and by the way, given some of our opening game troubles (i.e. McNeese St), we definitely are not looking past you guys.
GO BULLS!!
