This week we have a big weekday game againgst SC if we could pick that one up our RPI would jump for sure. What do you think our chances are. From what i hear we didnt go as deep into our bench this weekend so we should have some arms left. On another note Davidson is this weekend a pivital Socon match up. All in al our next couple games could make or break a season

I dont think this weekend could make or break our season. If we take 2, it would give us some confidence, but getting swept could hurt us. I dont think 3 losses necessarily breaks our season.
On another note, we've played UNC who was #1 as I recall. Have we played any other #1 teams this year?

Elon Baseball Returns Home to Take On #1 South Carolina Monday, March 26, 2007
ELON, N.C. -- The Elon Phoenix comes home after an eight-game road swing to face the nation's top-ranked team in the South Carolina Gamecocks on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. from Latham Park. It will mark the first time that any Elon team will host the number one team in the country at the NCAA Division I level. Elon (14-12) went 4-4 on its recent road trip, but went 4-2 in Southern Conference play during that span. This will be the seventh game that the Phoenix has played in 2007 against a top-15 team and the second against a team rated number one in the country. Elon is 1-5 in the other six games this season with the victory coming by a 10-7 score at #11 Miami.
South Carolina enters with a 21-4 overall record and is 4-2 in SEC play after taking two of three at Mississippi State this weekend. The Gamecocks are 5-3 on the road in 2007.
The Phoenix will send freshman lefty J.D. Reichenbach to the hill on Tuesday night. Reichenbach currently sports a 3-2 record and a 5.96 ERA. It will be his fourth start of the season.
USC will counter with junior lefty Arik Hempy. Hempy is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in two appearances this season. He has struck out seven in 5.2 innings of work.
Phoenix fans can listen to the game on WSOE 89.3 FM or online at: WSOE ONLINE.

Check out the game notes for today's game - a 12 page PDF with tons of info. I was by the field this morning and it looks fantastic. Lush green grass, freshly mown and striped. Larry Rhodes & crew are doing a great job with it.

Record Crowd Sees #1 South Carolina Hold Off Elon Tuesday, March 27, 2007
ELON, N.C. – The nation’s top-ranked team visited Elon for the first time in any sport since the Phoenix moved to the NCAA Division I level as Elon hosted the top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks in a non-conference baseball tilt on Tuesday night. Elon claimed an early 4-2 lead, but South Carolina rallied for six runs in the fourth inning and held off the Phoenix in a 10-6 game in front of a Latham Park record crowd of 1,421 fans. Elon fell to 14-13 on the season while USC improved to 22-4.

Lewter had a throwing error with the bases loaded and two outs in the 4th that led to three unearned runs. That was killer.
The team is scoring....puting up runs on ranked teams.. just need to improve on the pitching. Nice to see the Latham Park record crowd of 1,421 fans.
Good luck to the guys today against High Point and this weekend against Davidson.

1,400 fans?!! Wow, I can't imagine what that looked like. Must have been 5-6 deep against the fence down the lines.

There's plenty of room unless the crowd hits 2000+. Some additional temporary bleachers would be a great behind both dugouts and down 1st base line where there's not enough ground elevation for anyone (dugouts) or more than 1 deep (1st base line). Another change that would help with the extra crowd (though not something that can easily be done by 4/11) would be shortening the OF fence in the LF corner to 4' (like the fence down the LF line) from the fence corner to the foul pole, then keeping the tall fence in fair territory. That would allow for a lot more people to sit on the hill in the LF corner. Looks like the UNC game will have a lot going on pregame as well: "Elon will be hosting UNC Chapel Hill this baseball season and our LSM class is hosting activities before and during the game. There will be a dunk tank, bounce house, fastpitch machine, and a Dizzy Bat competition. All proceeds will go to the Humane Society of Alamance County!! The game starts at 7pm and activities begin at 5pm." (from Facebook)
