I'm disappointed that Chad Nkang #30 was not retired it was a tough era and this guy, a freak'n draftee is not being honored with his number not being honored. it's BS and makes no sense.

I totally agree. He ended up being one of the most productive LB's ever to play in the SoCon. Fans from other schools always say "yeah but if he played for us he wouldn't even start." That still doesn't take away his production for this team.

We heard that ALL last season and it got tiring. Simply, the guy probably wouldn't have had monterous numbers........but no doubt he would have been very productive member of any staff in the SoCon.

You expect a number to be retired in a year? They will take their time and wait a year or they will wait until he is eligible for the HOF to retire the jersey.

I think he would actually enjoy it more sometime in the future when his life has settled down some. With finishing school and preparing for the NFL his head is probably already spinning.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I've never seen a number retired the year a player graduated. Give it a few years and they'll have a big halftime presentation to bestow the honor.

It doesn't need to be immediately retired, but it could have been set aside for a while, which is very common for great players whose numbers haven't yet been retired.

has chad signed his contract yet? 06/21/07 The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie linebacker Chad Nkang and offensive lineman Andrew Carnahan to contracts today. Nkang and Carnahan were drafted with the Jaguars’ final two picks in the seventh round. The two are among the 11 players selected by the Jaguars in the 2007 NFL Draft in April. Seven of the 11 draft picks have now signed contracts. Nkang, 21, was the 251st overall selection in the draft and was the first of two compensatory picks in the seventh round by the Jaguars. The 5-11, 215-pound linebacker started his last 33 games played at linebacker after moving from starting fullback as a freshman at Elon. The Hyattsville, Maryland native earned All-America honors twice after recording 414 career tackles, 8.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and two interceptions.

for the record they retired #85 Mc George's # was retired via a request from student government in '70 to my recollection plus it would be fitting to to take the # out of cirrculation, then have the announcement ceremony at a Basketball home game. that's what big schools do.
sorry if this topic got old to some of you. those that don't have a knowledge of their history should learn protocals or at least inquire to the powers that be.
