We kickoff the season with 3 against NC State this weekend. Elon released the probably starters for the weekend along with some other info here: www.elonphoenix.com/news/2011/2/16/BB_0216115126.aspx?path=baseballI kinda thought Ferrer would be our Friday Starter. Maybe he still will be for the SoCon season but was a little surprised by this. It is always good to get some wins against the ACC.

Today certainly looked better on the scoreboard. Rubber match tomorrow with Ferrer on the mound.

Wow, after that being blowout in the first game, they really took State to the house today. Awesome win!

After losing badly the first game of the season, the boys ended up pulling out another win today and taking the series against state 2-1.
Ferrer and Webb looked solid in games 2 & 3.
Girdwood closed 'em out in the 9th too!

Great series win to kick things off! Even got to watch some of the game online - loved the 2 out rally in the top of the 9th. Great double by McCoury on a 3-2 count to score Rasmus, who had gotten on with a bunt and then stole second.

I was hesitant about this season, seeing we lost so much fire power. But I guess I shouldn't doubt Kennedy!

I managed to make the Friday and Saturday games. Needless to say I was very worried leaving the ballpark on Friday, but man did they look sharp on Saturday. Great way to start the season taking the series.
I also read on the State board (not sure if this is true or not) one of the Elon players took a line drive to the face and had to be taken to the hospital yesterday. They said first baseman, so was it Scott? Does anyone have more information and the status of the player.
Hopefully, the team can play well against HPU and then they are opening South Florida's new ballpark so USF is going to be pumped I'm sure.
Go Phoenix!

HPU could be the 332'nd ranked team in D1 and still give us a tough game. We have to be ready on that one. USF will be tough but shouldn't be quite as tough as NCSU. It'd be great to win this series as well for a great start to the season.

Scott took a bad hope to the face. It wasn't a line drive though.

I saw this in the baseball viewbook online and thought it was pretty cool:
Over the past decade, Elon is the 4th wins behind UNC, NC State and ECU out of all DI baseball programs in North Carolina. That's good company!
