The team could sure use a big mid week win over a team that is traditionally a regional power.
Girdwood is getting the start. He had a fairly solid start last week.....hopefully he is embracing his new role!

Too many missed opportunities with runners in scoring position. I know one inning Canipe led off with a triple and they weren't able to push him across. Pitching did look good; ECU's was just better. On to WCU this weekend.
Go Phoenix!

Their rotation is really starting to shape up. Their speed really helps them manufacture runs. It was nice to see swim gun someone at second base, howeve their lack of power seems to be hurting them especially in these close ball games. I've noticed that when their opponents don't hurt themselves with BB n HBP .. that we really struggle to score runs. Let's hope someone develops to protect Pritchards bat. Looked like ECU pitched around him at least once. Is that the only legitimate pop we've got to instill fear?

That kid Jake Luce sure is providing some hits at the top of the lineup!
Have the new bats hurt the long ball?

There are only 14 players in the country with 6 or more homers right now.

I see your point however, look at HR's just in conference. That's the difference between a top 25 and bottom 25 team. You need to protect your 3-4 hitters somehow by tourney time or the better pitchers will manage your line-up and hand you a woopin. Then it's one and done. Need to put one of the bigger bodies in the roster on the Roseanne Barr diet and just look like he can hurt you.
Home runs 1. Coll. of Charleston 2 2 2. Georgia Southern 1 3 3. Samford 1 1 4. Elon 1 0

Just lookin at stats and remembering games I saw. Looks like Kinsella and McCourey are only players with enough regular at bats to judge ... that would give them some punch/protection. Looks like Kinsella has some pop and McCourey hits more for an average. Combo of both at the 5-6 might do the trick. Seems as though that's what coach has been doing so I guess he's managing the best he can with this lineup. He seems to know what he's doing.
