We got the win in the first game of the series tonight by scoring one run in the top of the 9th and winning 1-0! It was an infield single that scored the run no less. Thats a good game to pull out for the team.

The home team is the official scorer! And when a pitch is in the dirt, it will always be ruled a wild pitch.

True, was it? How bout the earlier pitch in the 9th. Not dogging Swim, just wondering from someone who saw it live

It was low, looked to be in the dirt and to Swim's left. Not an easy pitch to block at all.

GSU and Elon tied atop of the Socon. Series in the Boro will be for the championship. No one else in the conference is really a contender.

Is it me? or are we giving up too many innings where the other team puts up crooked numbers?
The pitchers sometimes look uncomfortable on the mound Sat/Sun. Their rythms seemed off and even quality pitchers seem wild at times ... although Noodle looked good (he was able to locate his off-speed). I'm not saying others didn't look good just making an observation.
Who calls pitches, cause I don't think that I've ever seen a shake-off?
Seems like alot of trouble starts when pitchers have trouble locating off speed stuff and continue to throw them (sometimes for wild pitches). Seems like their throwing pitches that their not comfortable with/commited to at times. Saw bad body language more than I'd like. Not picking on anybody, just trying to understand system.

Regardless of how it was scored its a crappy way to lose a game... i dont think there was even an out recorded in that bottom of the 9th

C of C also only has 3 losses - they are just 1 series behind as far as games played. But Western and El Cid are definitley not what was predicted at the beginning. Both were supposed to contend - Western with hitting and El Cid with pitching, but they both only have 2 wins in conference.
Winning the SoCon regular season would go a long ways in getting into post season i feel.

GSU got our two toughest road series out of the way early. Undefeated at home in the conference.

Eagleskins,
So you think we're going undefeated at home in the conference the rest of the year?
The issue is that all the starters have leaked oil at some point during the year, which isn't unusual. Girdy seems better suited to start. Whitehead looks like he's developing nicely. Brebia looks valuable as a closer and setup guy. This team will go as far as it's pitching allows. However, all pitchers have off days and sometimes that can happen at home during conference games. But I'm with you, "lets go undefeated at home".

I thought he was talking about GSU - they have swept Furman and Citadel at home so far in conference play. Also they have already played C of C and Samford on the road - which is maybe what he was calling their 2 toughest series...
That series down at their place should be pretty darn good

That was what I'm saying. We have the worst coach in the conference, but I think the best talent, which offsets. If Lil Rodney doesn't interfere, it will come down to the series between us in the Boro. But, we'll probably lose to some scrubs before due to Rodney.
