Hey look, with the eyes not stats. Cuase it doesn't make sense to in first place in coference with one of the highest ERA's and lowest Batting Averages.
In general the starters have pitched well. There have been a couple of hickups but that's to be expected.
The team has alot of talent. The biggest/most important stat is winning and runs scored is a big part of that.
With that being said. I see pitchers that can't get their breaking stuff over at times and continue to throw when behind in the count (that's when the opponents sit on fastball and we get lit up or we get in trouble with BB). Why? I don't know. I see gap hitters trying to hit home runs only to have non-productive at bats. Why? I don't know. I see too many strike outs with men in scoring position by contact hitters with less than 2 outs. Why? You got it... I don't know. I see too many strike outs stacked together in the lineup at times. That also leave men stranded on base. There are 4-5 guys with pop in this line-up ... heck we won the last 2 games late with the long-ball. You can't coach that.
To me this team is a puzzle whose pieces don't fit yet. If you look at the line-up changes you get the sense that the coaches haven't figured it out yet either. But make no mistake about it ... This team has talent and is underperforming but still leads the conference. I have confidence that the coaches will figure it out. buttttt time is a wasting.
