On that note, big props to the AP for quickly changing their guidelines and allowing votes for FCS teams in the poll.

I don't find it surprising at all that App received votes. Some of them may be making up for last week not being able to get a vote in for them. And don't be surprised if they continue to get votes. Now do you think the team that beats App this year will receive votes as well?? I am with EFF that App will get beat this season and it will come at the hands of a SoCon opponent..who? Well lets hope it's Elon as I will join in throwing the goal posts into the lake or walking them to Young Commons. I do find it shocking that USF didn't crack the Top 25 with their win.
I'm going to make this post now instead of going to another thread. We played USF tight and better than most expected us to. I hate getting a big head about "oh we could play against Auburn as well" I don't think that this is the case. Nor do I think when we beat App that we could beat Michigan.
However, Elon is playing very well against opponents thus far and getting points on the board. I make this point very clear each day to my two roommates who graduated from UVA and Notre Dame. This is what the White Board on the fridge currently shows: 2007 Point Totals: Elon 72, UVA 27, ND 13.
GO PHOENIX!

I'm not sure if we can truly use WV Wesleyan as a measuring stick.
After this weekend, things will progressivly get tougher for the team. Liberty is tough (though many still think they're push-overs), and that game we can use as a measuring stick.
If the team can play every week with the same intensity of the USF game, then the outlook will be good. If the team plays 1 half of penalty ball (like in the WVWU game) against ASU, Liberty, Wofford and nearly every team in the SoCon, then we'll see the team struggle as they play catch up.
Hit 'em hard, and score early!
