Love the energy we have going right now since the loss at App. A few concerns though:
1. Lack of trips to the line - In the last two games, I think we have been to the free throw line a TOTAL of 14 times. Got to get to the hole and make them foul us rather than always relying on that 3 point shot. One night it won't fall and we need a backup. 2. Injuries - We are playing well, but certainly depth are going to hurt us down the stretch.

Good Points. But, I don't think our team is necessarily relying on the 3 pt. shot. I think the other teams are afraid of Troutman and to a lesser degree Beaumont. So they are more or less giving up the three pointer. Regardless, there will come a day when the 3 pointers won't fall. Hopefully, we will be able to count more on our down low game then.
If we keep having injuries, depth may become a problem. However, right now, we are the deepest team in the conference. Even with Austin Hamilton out. (Knock on wood).

We have several threats...perhaps the most all around is Koch. He can shoot from anywhere and is not afraid to go inside. But what I like the most about this team is that they ARE a team - they play together so well. Already dreading final game next year when we have to say goodbye to all of them...although, Matt and his staff are doing an incredible job in program growth. Hoping Tim, Will and Jack stick around a long time - am fearful they are drawing interest from other programs.

Hamilton is out for the rest of the season according to a bunch of media tweets today.

We will miss Hamilton.....Josh is stepping up though and had a good game tonight against UNCG in a big road win......9 pts and some nice assists. Going to need more of that. It was not a pretty game but a win is a win..........hopefully we will have a great crowd on Sat in an important conference game against Samford. Put some distance between us the the rest of the North Division!

Yeah, that definitely wasn't pretty. Turning the ball over 25 times usually isn't a recipe for winning, but the fact that they still won despite says a lot about the team.
Agreed on Bonney; he's played well. Samson is starting to become more of a threat the past few weeks as well.
Go Phoenix!

Looking at the rest of the schedule - we are probably going to be favored in every game the rest of the way except for Davidson, which is still at home. That is more just looking at RPI's and overall records of opponents the rest of the way. Not that I expect the team will win them all, but we will be the better team in them all.
They reworked the brackets so that the winner of the North/South each gets a bye and then the 3rd and 4th overall records get the other 2 byes regardless of division I believe. As well, the teams will just be seeded 1-12 rather than all the North/South crossover they used to do.

Probably off topic a bit, but I think I saw something the SoCon eliminating the divisons next year, after C of C exits....anybody know if that was passed? (That would seem to be in line with them seeding everybody 1-12 this year.)

It's a great place to be, but conference foes see us as undeserving, new kids on the top & would like NOTHING better than to knock us off! The team is in that tough but enviable position of having to play their best in EVERY GAME from here through the tournament if they want to capture the conference crown.

While all the remaining games are important, tonight's Samford game is significant for several reasons: 1. A win will put the Phoenix two games ahead of the rest of the North Division in the loss column, with eight games left to play. 2. Samford has had our number since they joined the SoCon in the 2008-09 season. Elon has beaten Samford only once during this time period, which is fewer than any other conference team, including Davidson (twice) and Charleston (thrice). 3. If Lucas scores at least five points tonight he will join Jack in the 1,000 point club.
