I take issue with the statement that our fans are "bandwagon". I can't think of a time that we played at Elon and we did not bring thousands of fans and fill up your side with more fans than you guys have on the home side. We always create a great football atmosphere for you guys. We bring thousands of fans, we bring our band, and a great football team. Now when the coin is on the otherside Elon has never brought more than a 100 people to A&T. This game is a lopsided deal for A&T. Costal Carolina brings more people to the stadium all the way from Myrtle Beach than you guys do. You could also bring your band to our school. How much could it cost to get them 20 mins away. Our band is 10x bigger and we can afford it, so should you guys. But I don't think Elon has any room to talk about fans. If you guys are going to be competitive in your new conference, than you might need to create a fan base that is financially valuable to your opponents. But for A&T I think we should cancel the series and schedule teams that resemble somewhat of a college fan base and makes it an opportunity for both teams. There are a ton of teams we could play that can do better and its a shame because none of them are right down the road.

That has been a bone of contention for quite some time, now. And for more fans to come up from Myrtle Beach than ever come from Burlington is shocking, especially when compared to how many Aggies show up for the games at Elon.

On the other side of that, Elon fans never bring more than a 100 people to our stadium and its right down the road. I disagree with this. When we play at your place we bus at least 100-150 students that pay through Elon. Then there are the few that go on their own. Add that to the fans that come. What your not remembering is we are a spread out alumni base. We dont live down the street. So us playing you is like you playing a Richmond. Our fans would be traveling 200-400 miles to come to your stadium. Its not a down the road trip. I understand your argument and we do what we can to get fans into your place but your low balling us with 100.

When A&T is good everyone jumps on the bandwagon. When they're bad they don't have a fan in the world. So yes, they could bring an App St. sized crowd. I take issue with this statement. I don't think there has ever been a time whether we were good or bad that we did not fill your stands up with more people than you had on the home side. On the other side of that, Elon fans never bring more than a 100 people to our stadium and its right down the road. Its a pretty lopsided agreement on our side. It benefits the heck out of Elon financially to have this game, we will fill your stadium, we will bring our band, and we will create a good college atmosphere for your program. When the game is at A&T its like playing a team from California. Its no real benefit to play Elon for A&T. If you guys are talking about your competitiveness in your new league you would want to increase your fan base so its actually beneficial to have you travel to their school. And bring your band to our school. How much could it cost to come 20 mins? Return the favor or else I say we end the series and play teams with a real college fan base that is financially beneficial to both schools. Elon has a much smaller fan base than A&T. No argument there. Also, we travel poorly, which is an embarrassment to those of us who are passionate for our program. What I was referring to was the 2006 game at your place. Your team was in a down cycle and I remember the stadium was almost empty. I looked up the stats. Attendance for that game was 2,768. I can't remember the coach's name exactly, but I think it was Fobbs? If I'm correct, he was a new coach from the year before and came from a strong high school program. The year before, when you played at our place, the attendance was 9,250. That may be in our top 30 all time, it's hard to say. Your trip to our place in 2003 resulted in an attendance of 10,536, which was our 9th most attended game, but that was Family Weekend, which is always the highest attended game of the year, regardless of the opponent. Irrespective of the wording of my earlier post, I meant no disrespect. It was just an observation of earlier events.

What Elon must do to win (or at least be in the game!) : 1- limit A&T offense to 350 yards or less and 2 - offense needs to stay away from turnovers and penalties.
First item will be tough considering we have had a hard time Defensively against the run and running QBs ( last three years and most recently Duke) and their offense (especially the running game) has gotten much better since we last saw them (e.g RB Tarik Cohen and QB Quick either played very little or not at all last time).
The second item is important because A&T forced 5 turnovers (3 INT, 2 fumbles) in their game against Coastal. They are a very fast and quick team on both sides of the ball and this game will be a real test of our players and coaches.
I am hoping for the best but if the defense can't make the necessarily adjustments it could be a long night.

Don't take this the wrong way, as I like playing A&T, as do many on this board. If I'm not mistaken, didn't you only have about 2,700 in the stands at Aggie Stadium for the last game of the original series in '06? I do though, believe that was one of your worst seasons. Last year was tied for our worst, record wise, since coming up to DI ball and single game attendance still didn't manage to dip below more than double that number above. Only 1 of the A&T games breaks was top 10 in attendance at Rhodes stadium. App (3), Samford, The Citadel, Richmond, Western, and Georgia Southern all rank higher......Johnson C Smith only trails the mentioned A&T game by 16.

Plus the A&T game was the first ever at Rhodes Stadium. I was there.

" Thanks for quoting my post......anytime y'all local choir boys (and girls) want a beating, holla at us in Greensboro. Name the game - football, basketball, rugby, table tennis, tidly winks, badgammon, uno, laser tag..........the Aggies will inflict a whipping of biblical proportions. It's too late to ask for Jimmy Swaggart or Charles Stanley now. We're coming for you. Leave the women and children at home. Alamance County will be plundered Saturday night

Defense will be fine if the offense can sustain drives and keep the ball. The pressure is on the O.

I have pictures of all the games I have been to that nullifies this crap from A&T. 1999 - Elon is new to I-AA, A&T is having a good season. We win, but of the 9000 there is a way too crowded Burlington Memorial, 5000 were for A&T. This is the only example of more A&T that Elon. 2000 - A&T's first night game. 16000 fans, 3000 are Elon for sure. 2001 - First game at Rhode's Stadium and first game after 9/11. 11,000 there, of which about 3000 are A&T. I can back that up from grass seating area size and section section size based. 2002 - Elon and A&T start slumping. Back at A&T, About 1500 Elon fans at a game with 10,000. 2003 - Back at Elon. I missed this game. 2004 - A&T - 9000, both teams slumping. 2000ish are Elon. 2005 - Elon - Both teams are terrible, 7000 fans. 2000 are A&T. 2006 - 2700 people at this game, both teams are freaking terrible. But I have pictures to back up that there are nearly zero A&T fans here and large amounts of maroon and gold in a pathetically quiet stadium. 2013 - 13000, Elon is in 4 sections half full for about 1500 fans. There's the truth. When the game has 10-12k in a cramped atmosphere, the fan numbers look bigger. When the stadium holds 20k and the fans are 2000, the numbers look smaller. Want me to post all the pictures, I'll start putting them online tonight....

BTW, the group I was with last year at your stadium was 110 people. My group alone is bigger than your "elon fans never bring more than a 100 people"
