I really feel like BOTH of these guys deserve quality playing time in the heat of the battle and not let one play and the other rot on the bench w/ a clipboard. Let the one who moves the team more that is fewer turnovers take over as the needs arise . I really felt better after the 2nd scrimmage than I did after the 3rd, from an offensive perspective. I know where Skrosky's coming from with respect to the starting QB. I thought CC was the obvious choice last week. Now I'm not so sure. The 3rd scrimmage was definitely won by the defense. There were some glaring, "you just can't do that" errors by the offense that we didn't see in the 2nd scrimmage. I absolutely felt better about the team on the whole after the 2nd scrimmage. The next scrimmage will be against Wake Forest...

I do not want to jump topic but, How well do you think the Defense will be?

It's hard to say. They look incrementally better than last year, but they weren't trying to stop UNH or Villanova. The quality of the defense will depend upon how long they stay on the field. Last year we had many more offensive 3 & outs than we had first downs. So, while our defense was decent, it was just too difficult to overcome the lack of possession time by our offense. I think if the offense can eliminate turnovers and get a respectable number of first downs, our defense stands to be significantly better.
Back on topic. I sincerely don't think Skrosky can make a serious mistake when choosing between CC and DT. The bigger question- are either of the two what we need for a strong future in the CAA? After Saturday, I think that's a legit question to which I simply do not know the answer. With all due respect, I don't think either of these two is a Scott Riddle. I'm also not sure whether our OL will give them enough time to get the job done. I think the QBs have decent receivers, but I don't feel they have a go to guy like Hudgins or Mellette. If Josh Ramseur can figure out how to watch the ball into his hands, he has the potential to be very good. He is a terrific route runner. He has had numerous opportunities to really burn the D backs, but he has trouble catching the ball.
Like I posted earlier, I can sympathize with Skrosky's dilemma.

Just to clarify my remark about the OL in the previous post. I literally meant that I don't know whether the OL will give the QBs enough time to get the job done. Having said that, I really feel very good about the current batch of O linemen. These guys are big and athletic. With another year of seasoning, I think they will be better than our 2008 and 2009 OL.

I just hope We get a lot of plays like the catch, run & Score Arrington made in last weeks scrimage. reminded Me of a Richard Mc George play. block a few kicks, and some key turnovers We could maybe stay into some games We match up in. Play hard with heart has been known as a winning combination.

Let's see what happens the first few games and then we can debate this. Right now, all we can honestly discuss is which is the better candidate to start now.

It's not too early to make any judgement. I just run a much greater chance of being wrong. I'm also not saying they are busts... far from it. They both appear to be two of the best we've had since Riddle. But we knew what we had in Riddle from the first day of his first camp. This really isn't a fair comparison, I know. Many teams have had superlative seasons with far less than someone of Riddle's caliber. Right now it's all about minimizing mistakes and maximizing development. Like I said, having a tough time choosing between these two is a good problem to have.

Our QB play had not been the glaring weak point over the past few years. It's been our lack of running game and defensive backfield.

What you just said hasn't been more apparent than looking especially at last year. Also didn't realize how many time Quinn was sacked last year......27 times, compared to 8 the year before. I thought both Quinn and Wilson could've been stellar QBs under better circumstances.

I think, for the next couple of years, if we can keep the RBs healthy, (fingers crossed), we will have one of the best groups of running backs we have had during Elon's D1 era. And with the mobility of these QBs who knows what might happen. I think our DB corps also looks as good for the next couple of years as we've had since 2008/2009.

Look at the 3rd year guys RS/ sophomores and juniors and what these guys have gone through. This isn't not even counting the 4th and 5th year guys had no success. So We are all going on blind faith that they actually can turn things around. I guess these guys are my Chicago Cubs. If the Cubbies were my team. 3 wins in 2 seasons leaves no group without a comple inventory. I hope some Phans will show up to give them support.

...CC and DT splitting time, at least for the first three games so DT can retain a redshirt if needed. (That is the rule, right?)
I think once you play you lose the redshirt option. I think the three game rule only applies to injuries - and then you need to apply for the extra year eligibility.
