When Daniel Thompson is ready to play, do you play him? Curious on your thoughts Homer. Here's my take on this - I don't think CC has looked too sharp, he still struggles on his mid to deep balls. Vs Towson one drive stayed alive because on two 3rd and longs we got a pass interference and a defensive holding. And on the TD pass, our WR was very open, had the db beat by maybe 5 yards, and the pass was underthrown, our WR came back and made a nice play, but it wasn't a great pass. I know it was wet and all, but to me CC has not done anything to hold the position yet.
I would expect that if DT is ready to go we will see him get some PT.

I think your description of the TD pass was perfect. Tereak made a play. Tereak has made several plays over the last two weeks. Now what we need is for Joyner, Lennon, Allison, Pearsall, Thomas, Ramseur, Warrick, Oliver, Arrington and all the others to step up and make plays. Lennon looked better this week and I think I remember Oliver catching a pass. But what we really need is receivers that will make plays when the ball isn't thrown quite on the money and are 100% when the passes are dead on accurate. I won't argue whether DT would be more accurate in mid and long passes than CC because I just don't know. Although I do think competition makes everyone better. But the reality is that neither of our top two QBs are "Riddle caliber" yet. This isn't meant to be a slight to either one. I certainly think they both have the potential to develop into top notch QBs. My point is that they are currently accurate enough to generate many more yards and points with a little more help from the receivers.

I'm anxious to see how well the team responds on the road, versus a top 25 team. I think Towson was receiving votes in the AGS poll. Not a top 25 but not a cupcake (Rhode Island) I was referring to New Hampshire on the road this week. My earlier post stated Towson was #33 in the AGS poll.

Agreed a top 25 on the road is no easy task. After a big win we really get the chance to see how this team responds.

Elonfan,
Saturday's game saw 9 fumbles, the ball slipping out of the QBs' hands and right through the receivers' hands, in the wettest game I've ever been to. To critique any QB for being slightly off in throws is unreasonable. And yes, we want receivers that make plays, like in the TD pass.
Criticize the deep throws in the other games, but not against Towson. And the PI calls... Well, maybe, just maybe, the defender illegally holding and mauling the receiver is what prevented the completion. How can that be a criticism of any QB?
I simply said things appear to be clicking better every week. That also means I'm implying that they will continue to improve. That's a dangerous assumption on my part. But if improvement is constant, I see little benefit to stirring things up with a QB controversy, especially with one of them having inexplicable fluid on the brain.
Can CC be better? Hell yes! I sure hope so! This is his first playing experience in almost two years. And with a VERY young offense. That's a challenge for everyone.
If the tables were turned and CC was the one sitting out and DT was sitting there with a 2-1 record as a starter, my response would be the same. Stick with DT; don't derail what you have going.

My point is that they are currently accurate enough to generate many more yards and points with a little more help from the receivers. Completely on target. The line is doing ok. This is the only thing still a little behind where it should be.

Apparently the QB platoon is back for Saturday. This has to make you think that the position is still up for grabs even after winning 2 out of the last 3 games. Maybe they think that Daniel can stretch the field and open up the running game?

An offense that ranks 121 out of 123 schools, I would say is struggling in the passing game. That might also explain the quarterback rotation.

One of the best articles I've read on the team his year. Maybe ever. Gives us common folk an insight into what the skill players are working through and are striving to achieve. Kudos to Mr. Simpson.

The feel of the team is so much different than in previous years.

This week will be a test. UNH has been a class FCS team for quite some time. Seems they are dealing with some injuries, but they have a loaded roster (as we saw last year when a couple kids went down) so I am sure they will be ready.
Our Defense did a whale of a job last week in the rain against Towson / the defensive stands on 4 down were incredible. And the comment that the Towson coaching staff should be arrested is spot on! Some of their decisions were just plain criminal. But could it have been that they lost their star RB? Not sure, but maybe they were getting frustrated not being able to pull away from Elon!!
Our offense still has a long way to go. The second drive was helped immensely by penalties on Towson. We even had a gift PI call when 80/Tre was the one who ran over the Townson DB (but I liked him actually driving through to get to the ball...)
While the rain surely had impact on the game and us fans in the stands, again, way too many drops. Start the game off after a great 4-1 stand by the defense and then run our go to play (WR Screen - do we run this 12-15 times a game or what?? 1-2 may generate more than 2-3 yds...??) and immediately fumble it. That cannot happen - and the ball wasn't soaked yet! Another drop late when we are trying to run out the clock...slant pattern, easy route, easy catch but again, a drop. A good team will make us pay for these mental errors and our lack of offense. I did see more of an attempt to get the ball to the TE's over the middle, which should just be an extension of the running game. Gentry did a great job of pounding the ball. Towson had their drops too(more than us for once) but our drops are a regular occurrence that has not been cleaned up / not since last year.
As for the QB position, I am in the thinking that if we are going to wait and expect struggles this year, why press him back into playing and not redshirt him? If we are going to take our lumps as some say and build for 2016 and 2017, why have them split time. If they were 50-50 before, then he hadn't separated himself from CC so why burn a season for DT? Let CC finish the year and develop while DT learns the offense and then competes this offseason while also giving him more time to heal? If we are building for future, we don't need two QB's who are neck and neck splitting time as neither grows as fast. If CC has the job, he can either prove hes the guy the rest of the way or then we look to DT in the spring.
Looking forward to seeing our D against UNH, it will be another good test. Now, just hold onto the ball and lets keep the passing offense open. Seemed they were rotating more WR's last week and it should keep them all sharper and maybe force additional concentration if they will be missing a series for not running hard on route, dropping passes, or not making an effort to get involved with the downfield blocking to allow the RB's the added yards.
Go Phoenix!
