Elonfan,
Saturday's game saw 9 fumbles, the ball slipping out of the QBs' hands and right through the receivers' hands, in the wettest game I've ever been to. To critique any QB for being slightly off in throws is unreasonable. And yes, we want receivers that make plays, like in the TD pass.
Criticize the deep throws in the other games, but not against Towson. And the PI calls... Well, maybe, just maybe, the defender illegally holding and mauling the receiver is what prevented the completion. How can that be a criticism of any QB?
I simply said things appear to be clicking better every week. That also means I'm implying that they will continue to improve. That's a dangerous assumption on my part. But if improvement is constant, I see little benefit to stirring things up with a QB controversy, especially with one of them having inexplicable fluid on the brain.
Can CC be better? Hell yes! I sure hope so! This is his first playing experience in almost two years. And with a VERY young offense. That's a challenge for everyone.
If the tables were turned and CC was the one sitting out and DT was sitting there with a 2-1 record as a starter, my response would be the same. Stick with DT; don't derail what you have going.
Homer,
I acknowledged the weather in post earlier this week. CC has been struggling all season on the deep balls, not just vs Towson, and that is why our running game is not going anywhere. Rain or no rain I don't think he has enamored the coaching staff enough to solidify the job. I expect we will see DT on the field at some point tomorrow. Regarding a RS for DT, remember he left HS a semester early to come to Elon and he is a pretty smart kid so I think he knows the offense enough to play and I think the coaches will give him a chance. We will see tomorrow.
