When Lembo came, he brought most of his staff from Lehigh.
When Paul Hamilton came, he brought most of his staff from ETSU (Jamey Chadwell not included).
When Skrosky and Swepson came, they filled in a brand new staff. Swepson got an OC and DC from other I-AA schools, maybe not the best but they had experience.
Looking at the resume of our assistants (not saying they are bad)
-Damian Wroblewski (Off Coordinator) - Was previously offensive line coach at Rutgers before Elon. Before that offensive line at Delaware
-Patrick Madden
(Def Coordinator) - Previously the linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at Tufts (D-III). Before that was def. coordinator at a prep school.
-Scott Browne (RB and Special Teams Coordinator) - Survived from Lembo to Swepson to Skorsky.
Before that Charleston Southern. And before that a graduate assistant at South Carolina.
-Gerald Chatman (Def Line) - Previously graduate assistant for defense at Butler (non-scholarship) and Texas A&M.
-Terry Lantz (Def Backs) - Did safeties at Ball State, before that 10 years at Wofford with the secondary.
-Bill McCord (Def assistant) - Came from Bowdoin College (D-III) for defensive backs, before that LB and CB coach at Princeton.
-Cris Reisert
(Tight Ends and Recruiting) - Was wide receivers coach at Ball State. Before that the same at Ohio Dominican -University (NAIA)
-Billy Riebock
(Wide Receivers) - Was OC and WR coach at Quincy University (D-II) before then moving to graduate assistant at Ball State
-Scott Van Zile
(QB) - Previous 14 years at various roles at Monmouth
-Ryan Horton
(Strength) - Previously at a private org. Before that at FIU from their startup basically.
So looking at that:
Coordinators - Very little coordinating experience and one coach that has lasted through 3 staffs!?!?
Most of our assistants before us came from either graduate assistant gigs (very little experience) or D-III (no scholarships)
The coaches from Butler and Monmouth also dealt with no scholarships when they were there.
The big exceptions are Browne who basically has all his experience with Elon. And Lantz who was at Wofford for a good long time.
Do any of these resumes surprise anyone else? Especially that about our coordinators? I would have thought the coordinators at the top conferences of FCS would be.... experienced.
