I remember a former QB not that long ago transferring to Temple. One other factor is does he have the grades to get in. Cignetti's big challenge will be managing and adhering to the APR requirements. Don't underestimate how big that hurdle is. Duke, WF, UNC, UVA, Vandy, Stanford, Northwestern... to name a few that can work within the realm of strong academic standards. As Curt mentioned in presser, high academic schools can compete at a championship level, HOWEVER, it is more difficult, and perhaps playing at a high level consistently , is harder.

Don't underestimate how big that hurdle is. Last time I checked, Villanova, W&M and Richmond all have high standards if not higher than Elon. They are all perennial playoff contenders. It can be done. However, it's about culture and commitment. Elon does not have a winning culture, in fact I'd say we don't have any culture in football. Our students don't care, a majority of alums don't care and frankly, our administration at times looks like they don't care. I hope this is a new beginning.

anyone remember a Maryland transfer coming to Elon getting a training accident, blowing out his arm and never making it to the field? The world of almost and coulda shoulda woulda. Why they call it hard knocks

If Williams has to miss a year or a larger portion of a year to rehab, then he has plenty of reason to transfer. He would miss a season anyway. But rehabbing for a year makes him less attractive as an athlete. He had surgery to repair torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee on Nov. 21. I'm no doctor, but that doesn't sound promising for 2017. Interesting situation. We could know soon. Heck, might even be the start of spring semester. QB David Washington at Old Dominion had the same injury last season at about the same time. He just finished up a pretty good year at ODU with a Bowl win and a 10-3 Record. He could very well be ready to play in 2017.

My poimt. Where was Curt a HC with high academic standards? One thing to talk about it another to actually pull it off. Cignetti gets his chance.

You guys should take a look at IUP QB Andre Druett-Parks. Mini-me version of Lenny Williams. He had to sit out last season due to academic concerns. Not sure what your standards are down there but he may be a good get since he is more or less trapped behind Lenny.
I would recommend to Elon fans highly to check out Coach Cignetti's scrimmages and even practices. I enjoyed watching his spring/fall camp scrimmages even more than the games themselves. He does a great job with them and they are really exciting to watch if you have any interest at all in player development and situational football.

If he can create something close to what he had at IUP, Elonnwill be able to attract JMU type QBs. Until then...
