Brian Hess joins the Army West Point strength and conditioning staff for his first season as an assistant football strength and conditioning coach.
Hess spent the last two seasons as the head strength and conditioning coach at Sam Houston State. He worked with six different teams with the Bearkats, including football, volleyball, women's basketball, tennis, bowling and the throwers of the track and field squad.
Prior to Sam Houston State, he was at Delaware, where Hess was responsible for the strength and conditioning efforts for more than 575 student-athletes that were members of the Blue Hens’ 21 sports programs.
A native of Kingston, Mass., Hess earned his degree in applied exercise science from Springfield (Mass.) College in 2008.
After beginning his college career at Trinity College, he moved on to Springfield and was a two-year starter at linebacker for the football team, serving as team captain in 2007. His junior senior in 2006, Hess helped lead the team to a 10-2 record and a berth in the NCAA Division III football playoffs.
He began his coaching career at the University of Iowa under head strength & conditioning coach Chris Doyle where he served as an intern in 2008.
Hess then moved on to Georgetown where he worked one season in 2008-09 with Augie Maurelli, serving as an intern and working with the football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, crew, and women's lacrosse programs. He also designed and lead strength and conditioning programs for the field hockey and sailing teams.

He went to Temple to be the assistant. Elon I believe has 3 or 4 Strength coaches. 1 for football, and the other 2/3 split the other sports. I heard there was a different guy who accepted the job but then turned it down last minute. I think this could be a big improvement from the old staff. Not sure we got much bigger or faster under the old coach
