It is an absolute joke we are playing an NAIA school (Milligan) and a school from the USCAA (Central Pennsylvania).
Why is this still happening? We’ve had these joke games for a few years now.

This schedule is abysmal. We play in the CAA and are a true mid major, with a brand new facility. There is absolutely no reason why we are playing such a pathetic schedule. There’s no excuse, and the blame falls exclusively on this coaching staff. Take UNC off, and without a doubt, we have one of the worst non conference schedules in all of division 1 basketball. When will it be acknowledged that this isn’t acceptable??? Also, why play in a mid season tournament if the best opponent you get out of it is Pacific? This staff is lazy and inept. We are driving distance to so many quality programs, there’s no reason to not have a few quality home and home games scheduled. I’m not saying we need to be playing all ACC or Big East schools, but one A-10 or AAC school would’ve been nice to see. Milligan. What a joke.

I actually don't think the home schedule is that bad. An NAIA school is often times a better opponent than playing a DIII school. Central Penn I could do without. Even taking UNC out of the picture, UNCG, Furman, Canisius and BU are all solid programs in their conferences.
With that said the teams in the Pacific tournament and the road trips to Manhattan, Kennesaw and UMKC are terrible. There are so many good holiday tournaments and we seem to find the worst one every year.
I'm hoping Matheny shuts us all up this year and delivers what he's been promising for 10 years, but I'm anticipating the same results.
Go Phoenix!

I am okay with playing UNCG, Furman, Boston, Canisius as home. Not bad teams, a similar level of play etc. That tournament isn't terrible. UC Riverside went D1 in 2000. Abilene Christian is part of the Southland Conf. They are probably three winnable games but also 3 losable games. I would like to see us get into a better event but honestly some of those events we would be 0-3 easily. At Kennesaw State isn't a bad game to recruit the Atlanta area, I would say at Manhattan and at UMKC while not bad opponents very random matchups that really are no interest to the casual fan. Then again last year we played St. Peters.
Outside of getting up to NY to recruit maybe not much point in those trips. I know some of these we have played in the last few years but ECU, Charlotte, Davidson, Asheville, High Point, App St, Campbell, WCU, NCCU, A&T, Liberty, ODU VMI, Richmond, George Mason, Wofford, Coastal Carolina etc would all be great close to home teams to play.
The only reason I see not wanting to play these teams is losing to them and losing in the recruiting battle. But with only FOUR players from NC, SC or VA it shows we might not be hitting big in our own back yard

High Point just broke ground a new arena, conference center, and a hotel. $4,500 seat arena. 2,500 conference center seats. $120 million. www.highpoint.edu/arena/

Seems more like an opera house or something. Steep price tag. Even with the the hotel and conference center that's roughly 3x the cost of Schar, right? Go Phoenix!

It is a very interesting looking arena. I would say it is a bigger overall building obviously and it looks to be a lot more detailed from the outside perspective in these pictures anyway. Let's be honest, it looks very High Point. This would be a great time to play home and home with HP. Also, they get two new turf rec fields... it took us years just to get a turf field for football practice let alone rec fields.

Nuff Said With regard to your comments about Nido Qubein you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. HPU has copied a lot from us and we have copied a lot from them. You need to read a little of Qubein’s Bio before making stupid comments.
