BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Senior guard LeVonn Jordan (Murfreesboro, N.C./Brunswick CC) was today named to the 2006-07 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Men’s Basketball Second Team.
The team consists of 10 NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams.
The All-State basketball teams include a five-player first-team, as well as a five-player second team (plus those involved in ties). Teams are selected for men and women in both the college (Division II, III and NAIA) and university (NCAA Division I) divisions.
Jordan was named All-Southern Conference by the league's coaches and was a third-team All-SoCon pick by the media. He tallied 23 double-digit scoring performances and ranked among league leaders in scoring (14.5), rebounds (6.5), blocks, free throw percentage, defensive rebounds and minutes. The 6-6 guard posted a career-best 30 points against Wake Forest, going 10-for-15 from the field, and recorded 26 points against Vanderbilt. He finished his three-year career at Elon with 810 points and more than 400 rebounds.
The 2006-07 NCCSIA First Team All-State is headed by Davidson freshman Stephen Curry, a unanimous selection, as well as three-time all-state choice Kyle Hines of UNC Greensboro. Senior guard D.J. Thompson of Appalachian State, a 2006 second-team pick, earned first-team honors this year along with Arizona Reid (High Point) and Jonathan Rodriguez (Campbell).
Nick Aldridge (Western Carolina), De’Angelo Alexander (Charlotte), Jason Richards (Davidson) and Steven Rush (North Carolina A&T) joined Jordan on the second-team.
