Due to a total lack of interest, I think as a founder or early adapter on this forum I think old elonfirefighter ought to just fold up the tent. It seems no one cares about Elon athletics or gives a take other than to bash the coach in season. We just signed 14 high school seniors of the 2022 class. crickets. I can talk to myself any time.

Frankly, I find it hard to get excited about high school senior signees. We really won't know how they'll perform for at least another year & a half at the earliest. I'd be much more excited to see some FBS grad transfers with proven track records.

Not counting our recent signees We have 3 recruiting classes of freshmen totaling 63-64 players. A lot of our youngsters got valuable experience this fall & Our rising seniors next fall and juniors returning are almost all contributors so recruiting is our lifeblood star rankings aside. We do have needs to fill.

Whoanellie I appreciate all your input over the years. I agree the lack of production and lack of insight by the administration has killed fan support on this form. With Kids and Cancer past few years I have had to stop all my trips up to Elon and Plainly I don't want to drive 2 hours sometime to watch a loss.
With that said I am more then willing to keep this site going as the financial input is minimal. I keep hoping we get back to the socon days, while annoying sometimes we would have threads 50-100 post song for a game. I see it on other boards too so it may not be just our issue.

FACT!! You can sign as many young players as possible. But if your not going to play them they are going to leave. Elon seems to be seniority based rather then ability based football team. On top of that football isn't very popular with the students. It's not even the main sport at the school. And there are only about 12 people that ever post on this forum. But it is what is it.

First, thank you Elonfirefighter for keeping the forum up and running! A few observations from my pov on the lack of interest on this board and in Elon Athletics. Our move to the CAA (which I supported) has not worked out as planned. The CAA in which Tom Yeager built no longer exists and JMU's departure is the final straw. Elon along with W&M, UR (football), CofC, and UNCW need to rejoin the SoCon, if possible. The gameday atmosphere at Rhodes is lacking in that the current student body is not interested in football (leaving at Halftime) or sports in general. The games at Williams Stadium during the "coat and tie" era were more exciting, maybe with alcohol being a factor...LOL! Also, when I attended Elon most of the students were from the South (NC, Va, etc.) and we were interested in college sports. Moreover, in the world of coaching Elon is a pit stop and not a destination. If we are lucky to get a good coach (Cig and Lembo) they are gone in few years. Hard to build a consistent winning program under those conditions. In addition, the president has to be committed to athletics and that doesn't appear to be the case at this time. Anyways, I hope y'all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

I'm sure we could all list a ton of reasons why fan/student/alumni interest in very limited in Elon athletics. But the biggest culprit is what EFF said, the university administration. It's become obvious that building the athletics program is not a priority at all for Elon.
For the average, or above-average fan, there isn't a lot of coverage of Elon athletics available. Which makes it difficult build interest or get excited about the teams. If Elon wants to grow support of the athletic program, they are going to need commit resources to making the teams more visible and accessible. Joining the CAA has been a failure in the sense that the FloSports contract is the absolute worst. A ridiculous price and terrible production. Whoever at CAA that got swindled (or bribed) into signing that deal deserves to be fired. It's impossible to be a fan of a team that you can't watch. I do applaud MBB/Schrage for scheduling legitimate non-conference schedule and providing the team with national eyeballs. Also, the online coverage and promotion is also pathetic. It's essentially down to a smattering of short ENN game recap articles. The BT-N coverage seems to have dwindled (I don't blame them), and Elon stopped producing their athletics podcast. With as strong as the Com school is, you'd think they could do a lot more across all mediums.
Why would anyone think there would be excitement for athletics beyond a few hardcore supporters when its nearly impossible to learn about the team, and root for and watch them play?
I think Elon will need to artificially create interest committing money and resources, and then pray for good results on the field.
