Big Trap Game here for the Phoenix. Towson is going to come to play and the Phoenix need to establish themselves immediately to eliminate any hope for the Tigers, but I wholeheartedly expect a 4-quarter game on a beautiful day in Rhodes Stadium!
Go Phoenix!

I never take any CAA game for granted. Towson appears to be vulnerable to the big play, in the air or on the ground. We're very capable of the big play at any time, in the air or on the ground. So we'll have opportunities. My ongoing concern is keeping McKay safe from injury.

Towson only allowed Delaware 24 points after the Hens scored 35 minimum on every other FCS team they have played this year. They scored 42 against URI who was ranked until then. Towson is no pushover. They're getting better every week and they will come at us with everything they've got. Their fans are very discouraged, but all their doom and gloom won't keep them from kicking our azzes if we take them for granted. here's their forum URL: www.towsonfans.com/index.php?/forum/2-football-talk/

Nothing more scarier then a team that has nothing to lose. Elon plays like they are the underdog like they’ve been playing, they should beat Towson. Just want to see them put 4 complete quarters together. This team has a way of finding a way to win but would be good to leave no doubt from start to finish!
From my observations, Towson’s defense is better then most think. Will be another challenge for our OLine & group. Offensively, they do have some weapons. RB Bangda is a load to bring down and they just started using him. Not sure why they waited.
Should be a good game.
Go Elon!!

After re-watching the broadcast (went to the game yesterday), some observations:
1) Attendance for a top-20 team was embarrassing. Beautiful day, beautiful weather, baseball facility opening, and it looked like 4k in Rhodes. Piss poor job by all involved with getting butts in seats.
2) Elon let Towson hang around for far too long. Offense kept making critical errors.
3) Special teams was decent. Punt had some miscues.
4) Our WRs need the ball more when we have good conditions.
5) Defense has been tough these last few weeks and escaped fairly injury free.
6) Offense needs to develop a killer instinct. Keeping teams around will come back to bite them soon.
7) Keep this broadcast team of Durham, Walker, and Rebecca. Walker knows what he is talking about, Rebecca has had some good stories, and Durham seems to be enjoying it. They are a solid trio for those who can’t make it.
8) Everyone show up at homecoming.
Go Phoenix.

Couldn't be prouder of defense and special teams. Offense has talent and capability, but potential to do so much more. We'll need to approach that potential in coming weeks. No time or room to breathe.

This was very much a trap game coming off of two ranked wins. All that matters is the win. The D has given up a total of 9 points in regulation in the second half of 5 FCS games which is unbelievable. It is clear the offense isn't yet clicking on all cylinders. If McKay's efficiency continues then this team should be in every game. Hopefully they can keep their focus and 1-0 mentality as the second half of the season plays out. Rhode Island is another tough opponent that can put up points.

Rhode Island will likely be top-25 next week, so it will be another ranked matchup for the Phoenix.

Personally I don't see a win on Rhode Island's schedule that makes them deserving of a Top 25 ranking. The combined record of the teams they've beaten is 4-11. But their QB is legit and they are definitely no push over.

OL will have to do a much better job going forward. We started out the season running the ball like we did back in 2017 but have slowly declined to where we were with the running backs last year slamming into a solid wall for 0-2 yard gains. We thankfully still seem to be able to eek out a win with big plays and 2nd half defense. Unfortunately, we’ve learned we can get by with that. We won’t survive the next 3 games without 1 or more losses if we continue the UR and Towson MO. I’m very proud of the team and their awesome run so far this season. I’m just pulling for them to play to their potential which I have every confidence they will do.

But their QB is legit and they are definitely no push over. I have to agree with this. In Massey ratings Brown is 85, Stony Brook is 92 and Bryant is 100, and Delaware doubled them up 42-21.
