Anyone make it to the scrimmage last night? We weren't able to make it and I was curious how the team looked. Did the new guys look like they could contribute immediately? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Looks like you are not going to get any replies. Maybe someone will attend the exhibition on Tuesday night and give a report.

Saw most of the game. We look a lot like last year. Still struggling on the free throw line, and can't seem to defend man to man. Thank god Montell is back!!! Anyone know why Sanders didn't dress?

not sure, we did struggle under the hoop. couldnt get rebounds or make layups. every time we seemed to get a rhythem we slowed down again. I hope this was just an exebition blow off. 1 good thing is we have a big fresh Daniel Watts 7ft came in at the end he was a little getterish but towers above everyone

Thanks for the updates everyone, I was able to follow most of the game on live stats. The free throw shooting has me concerned. It never seems to get better and 48% is just plain bad, especially considering they were around 80% in the first half. I'm curious to know why Sanders didn't play as well. I hope he's ready to go by the start of the season because we can use that experience, albeit experience with another college team. It looks like Ola, Montel and Grable had a solid game. There is certainly potential there for this team, but I fear that we could be in for a repeat of last year as well.

Sanders didn't dress due to violation of team rules, he will be out for the next exhibition game and the Virginia Tech game, this acccording to Coach Nestor. I didn't think the problem last night was so much under the boards, I think it was creating and hitting shots, as well as turnovers. We outrebounded them by 17, and finally started hitting shots in the second half (and thus ran away with the game), but shooting 34% in the half just won't do. Hopefully things will be better when Brett James is back to full game speed.

That would have been embarrasing losing to Belmot Abbey

Based on the stats from this exhibition, it does not look like any of the freshmen are likely to be significant contributors at least early in the season. Can anyone report what they looked like? Did Long or Birdette play any at point guard?

A couple years ago Nestor only played Ola in one or two games - what a waste of a year of eligibility.

Long played a good bit of minutes at point guard. Was ok, is shot was horrible, but he ran the offense. Birdette played decent, he had some nice passes. None of the freshman impressed from a scoring standpoint, but they may be for a reason.
The biggest dissappointment was Devan. He only played 10 minutes and had like 4 turnovers and played bad defense.
