Well, I just finished watching my first Elon mob game of the year and it might be the last. All I’ve heard so far, is that we would see an up-tempo style game. Well, that’s exactly what I saw tonight except it was East Tennessee running the up-tempo game. Our offensive set looked very similar to last year. Sean Halloran is definitely a liability on both ends of the court. He contributes nothing on offense and all I had heard was about how much she would improve the assist game. He and Bowen just literally take up space and scholarships. Pratt needs to play much more and get the experience. The same goes for Smart and McKinnon. I saw nothing to build on tonight and we may not win another game unless Blank can convince Erskin to come back to Sharr several more times. It is so frustrating.

Everelon, hate to be that guy, but it is the second game with a new head coach and staff. This season is going to be rough and everyone knows it. Throwing in the towel after game two is unnecessary and seems as you were just simply waiting to be negative.

I sort of agree with you both. Knowing that this was going to be a rough year I was looking for things to be positive about. There were several good periods of play for the Phoenix against ETSU. I think Pratt and Smart were very good adds to our team and I didn't see where Bowen was poor. McKinnon plays with heart and aggressiveness that is good to see on our team. On the other side of the coin, Halloran needs to come to grips with two facts: He is short and he is not playing for Belmont Abbey any more. He can not drive the lane on every other play against guys that are 6"-12" taller and are just as fast. From what I've seen so far, Watson is our best PG. Pratt has potential but needs to develop more speed and confidence. So he needs plenty of minutes to develop. The entire team needs to practice shooting! If we had shot 50% FG and 30% 3PT on open looks that we had, we'd have won the game.
NOT ONE PLAYER on this team has played under this system. If you expect them to finish this season with a winning record, I agree that you should not go to another game this season. Stick with other Elon sports that will absolutely have winning if not conference leading seasons this year. As for me, I like Billy Taylor and I like the style of play he is working to teach the players. If we're not seeing vast improvement by the '24-'25 season, I'll probably be on here calling for someone's head too. But for now, Taylor and the rest of the team have my complete support.
