There is not a single player on this Elon team that could play for any other CAA team. However, we did look much better while Halloran was on the bench. Ervin is useless and so is Bowen. Not sure why anyone goes to watch this. They are painfully unathletic.

Yea I’m not even sure what to say after this one. Nice to see Zac hit some shots, when he’s on he is on. Nice to see Noord come off the bench and play well. I also think Sam continues to play well. That’s the positives from today.
The first half of the first half in particular was a killer. UNCG is going to pressure the ball with Langley. We didn’t look prepared for it. UNCG is going to feed their big #2. We didn’t look prepared for it. Defensively we looked lost in the zone for most of the game and they look prepared to attack the zone. Just not a good start to the game. Once we settled in and kind of got a grip around what they were doing we looked better.
NC A&T, who most think will be one of the weaker teams in the CAA along with us and Hampton, absolutely destroyed this UNCG team earlier this week. So that doesn’t really bode well for us heading into CAA.

Just watched the replay. The most obvious thing I saw was Pratt is easily the best PG on the team. He's deceptively quick and is a great passer and ball handler. He was listed as having only 1 assist on the night, but if you go back & count the great passes which led to open looks and assume they were made, he'd have had 4 possibly 5 assists on the night. That with Halloran being the primary ball handler. Secondly, Ervin had a great night. If he could be that same guy every night, he deserves the minutes he gets. He was great off the bench which was the right call IMO. Third. Halloran calls his own number a lot. He had a good night points wise vs. UNCG, but there were numerous times where he drove the lane, couldn't make the shot and got fouled. He will rarely ever get an "and 1". He made one shot driving the lane which was an underhand scoop. There were numerous other players open on that shot, who could've made the shot and possibly got the and 1. This type of decision hasn't worked against any team we've played thus far. What will be the result when we play bigger, faster CAA teams? In the final seconds, Halloran called his own number twice and only came up with one point, rather than a possible 6. "If" is for children, but if that would have been an "and 1" and a made 3pt shot, the game was won, all else being equal. This is why I would favor Pratt as the primary ball handler and Halloran as a 3pt specialist. Fourth, Sherry is really becoming a factor. Granted, this is UNCG, but for a 6'10" guy, Sherry's footwork is really improving. If he's going to shoot 3 pointers, he needs to get better, but down low his progress is noted. Lastly, there are a couple of players who are non factors defensively. I'm not sure how you deal with this, but because of physical limitations, I'm not sure there's any way to change it. I'm not trying to personally denigrate anyone, these are only my personal observations and opinions.
