What a meltdown. Went from up 13 to down 8 in about 10 minutes of game time. Everything that worked well for the first 28 minutes we got away from. We stopped being the aggressor on offense and our defensive and rebounding focus was completely lost the last 10 minutes of the game. Phoenix fall to 2-9, including 0-9 against D1 opponents.

I really thought this was a game we would win. One of the few teams in D1 that is as bad as we are. We started on 10-0 run then led 15-2. With about 12 minutes left in the game we were up 14 points. As you said in about 10 minutes time we went up 14 to down 8. Presbyterian went on a 29-5 run. We turned the ball over several times in a two minute span. Bad shot selection, silly fouls. Watson proved he is still awful this season. Zac is still inconsistent and can't shoot when we really need a basket. Halloran points up a nuce stat line but it is very misleading. His decision making is a huge liability. Sherry and Mackinnon are still the only guys playing that are worth two cents. Jadun Michael did not appear to travel with the team. I know he had been sick but was surprised. Would not really matter has he has been a huge disappointment this year. Presbyterian is by far the worst D1 team we will face this year and we totally melted down. No excuses for this. Play was awful, coaching was awful. We literally gave this game away. I will still be at the games and still cheering but this year is not fun nor does it seem it will be. Word has it that Butler will return in January so maybe that adds a spark. Who knows at this point. I feel like this team has already given up on themselves. They look defeated. Sad that they could not finish this game.

Heavy betting action on this game, since it was literally the only game being played this morning/afternoon. It’s worth noting that Elon lead this game for 36 minutes and still couldn’t cover +5.5. Wow…..

Who knows at this point. I feel like this team has already given up on themselves. They look defeated. Sad that they could not finish this game. I don't know, the stat line is pretty telling for me. It's ok for a shooting guard, but not for a point guard. He took 14 shots. The remainder of the starters took a combined total of 21 shots while he had 3 assists... 3. We play better when we move the ball around. He was 3-7 in 3 pointers, which isn't horrible, but was also 3-7 in 2 point field goals which isn't good and he had ZERO free throws. For him to be taking such a large percentage of the shots having such a low assist number and unable to draw fouls, (much less an inability to get and 1s), is troubling. It's blatantly obvious that our #1 issue this year is on the floor leadership. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's obvious that he knows how to pass the ball & set his teammates up, he just doesn't. Again, if we're going to continue to lose, why not at least give our future point guard some real world experience?

I avoided seeing the results all day so I could watch when I got home. Waste of time. What a terrible team.
Go Phoenix!

After watching the replay, I have a very hard time placing the blame for the loss solely on Halloran’s head. He made his share of mistakes but so did the rest of the team. The only player to finish this game was Sherry. With 9 minutes left it looked like we just forgot how to play. We didn’t play much defense the entire game but within the last 9 minutes we played NO defense. Playing no D and going cold as ice in the last quarter of the game is never a successful way to play basketball. I didn’t think Zac played badly offensively. Defense and passing are his primary deficits. For the last two games, When he commits to the shot he’s likely to sink it. But you can easily see when he doesn’t feel good about making a shot. You can just see him second guessing himself after he sets up. If the kid just got a huge dose of confidence he’d be our best offensive weapon.
This was a very disappointing game, but what’s new? I just want to see some progress with our underclassmen for the rest of the season. At least that will give me a better outlook for next season.
