I cringe coming out of a timeout and see Bowen coming into the game even if it is due to an injury. I honestly think we would be better off playing 4 on 5 rather than have him in. Now, with that being said, I now think, believe, that we have a much deeper problem than the obvious, (lack of talent and lack of good coaching), and that problem lies within our sports medicine and training programs. No other team, college, professional or scholastic has as many debilitating injuries as we do and not only in basketball, but football and other sports as well. We need to invest in some top notch weight and strength training as well as a sports nutritionist. Go back and look at our basketball and football injuries. Of course, this may necessitate changing the AD as well.

Why can’t we get some of these big spending parents from Connecticut or NY to earmark some scratch to our fledgling athletic endeavors?? We need an indoor practice facility for football, and a sports science department that can deliver next level support to our athletes . If Liberty, Charleston and Charlotte can have one, shouldn’t we???

BTW…you should see Charleston’s athletic dorm and support buildings. Now there is a school (very much similar to Elon demographically) that knows what it’s doing. They will be in the A-10 by 2025…

We will not win a D1 game until Halloran is benched or removed from the team. He knows nothing about D1 basketball.

Justus was making $325k at UK base salary. Probably 450+ with bonuses. I promise you he’s making more than that at NCSU. Probably around $450k base. I just don’t see Book & the Trustees stepping up. I think he’d be a great addition though.

Well, I know he interviewed last year for the job, and I think he understands that to get an HC job at the mid-major level he will have to accept some form of pay cut. I’m sure he doesn’t want to be an assistant his entire career.

I figured he was on the list but didn't know he interviewed after Schrage left. If he was not offered the job I'd really like to know why. He certainly would have been a better fit than Taylor. Interesting.

I read he interviewed via Zoom, as did Justin Gainey, Frank Haith and Jonathan Holmes.

I would take any of the above! And we would not have two pieces of dead wood. Probably could have kept our recruits as well. Maybe even some of the players that left especially if Johnothan Holmes had been hired.

No clue. I can see however Taylor looking fairly attractive with his semi, sorta kinda, almost not really successful coaching background (Lehigh). But I would not be surprised if one (or more) candidates viewed Elon as too tough of a job and either turned Blank down or withdrew from consideration. BTW…has anyone heard ANYTHING from Taylor?? I’m taking about from DAY ONE! He has done nothing to sell this program to students, alumni or the community. Zip..Nada. And finally..here is a hot take for you Elon fans. Taylor resigns at the end of the season, essentially saying “screw this, I’m too old for this ****”!!!!

What do you mean by "hot take"? Is this an "I wouldn't be surprised if this happened" or "I heard through the grapevine that Taylor said this"?

Doesn’t seem like being the program hype guy is coach Taylor’s style and Elon athletics isn’t really pushing the mens basketball team right now either. To be fair maybe both realize it’s a product not worth peddling right now. Most casual fans aren’t going to understand how much of a screw job Schrage did to us.
