I noticed in the game note that Grable is not one of the projected starters. I assume that means he is still hampered with the foot injury.

Coach Nestor said they were keeping him out on Monday for specifically precautionary reasons, and that he would have played if it were a regular season game. So unless he re-injured it in practice this week, I would expect him to play.

Wow, 69-64, VT only wins by 5? We were only down 1 with 12 seconds left? I don't know what to make of this to be honest.

Great effort by the guys. They didn't give up and fought back from a 14 point deficit. A lot of guys stepped up. Looking forward to see what they can do.
Also, UNCG beat Georgia Tech by 11. Socon looking tough at the top this year.
Go Phoenix!

Hopefully, this strong showing will translate to the rest of the season as the football team did with their close loss to USF!

I just arrived back to campus from Blacksburg and what a game it was! Despite being literally 1 of 6 Elon fans in attendance, it was one of the best basketball games from an Elon perspective I've seen in my four years. After seeing the exhibition games; I really doubted and had some serious pesimistic views towards the season. Since many of you were not their tonight and have been asking me for some details, I'll do my best to give a recap.
-It was one of the best coached games from Nestor and Company maybe ever. Nestor did a phenomenal job of coaching this team to the opportunity to beat a tough ACC opponent. I really saw Joel step up big time with some key coaching decisions down the stretched. I am just really happy to see a excellent coached game from Nestor. -I think the non-statistical player of the game was Brett James. He was called on to guard Deron Washington for much of the game - and he did an outstanding job. Elon held Washington to 14 points - 8 of which were wide open tomahawk dunks. I think Brett's offensive production was hampered because he was drained from guarding Deron. - Our guards did an outstanding job of breaking the Hokie press and the sufficating defense they played. Grunberg has his kids in good shape to begin ACC play. -We got blocked a ton and our big men were intimidated to take it strong to the hole. I think we gave up alot of outside shots because of their quickness. It was no different than Georgia Tech last year.. as soon as we get a decent look, we have to pull the trigger. -Ola and ACON played awesome. They both have come SO FAR, even from last year. Adam has matured infinitely and has done a nice job in the starting role. It will be exciting to see him develop more. Ola played well off the ball and did the best job possible on their beasts. -Chris Long, freshman, is EXCITING to watch. He could be the future of Elon basketball. -Grable and Devan played OK. They arn't fully back yet, I don't think. Just looked a little out of it. -Montell - plain old Montell. Leading this team to a new level. SO GLAD to have him back. His three point attempt with 30 seconds left that rimmed out, would have put us up 1, really upset him. He had drained 2 before that which put us in striking distance. He's so clutch it's scary. -Waters suprisingly put in some good, non-turnover minutes. We will depend on him.
The atmosphere in that place was DIRTY. We didn't want to heckle too much because in light of their recent tragedy - but they were ridiculous. Even their on-court antics, students, were just unclassy, rude, disrespectful of Elon. We made some serious noise and had people yelling and making comments to us throughout our time in the arena.
Alot to take away from tonight's contest and so much to be excited for. I'm not just saying that out of an effort to gain excitment. I'm serious - it could be a big time year for our Phoenix.
WE NEED MAROON IN THE STANDS.
I'm off to Charleston in 4 hours..... EU YOU KNOW

Thanks for the update. Sounded like a great game. I'm hoping the Georgia State game will be packed with a lot of people already on campus for the Stony Brook game right before.
Go Phoenix!
