So the preseason picks are out. Our guy Max Mackinnon was selected to the Preseason All CAA Second Team. Great honor for the defending Rookie of the Year whom we are glad to have back. Elon was picked to finish 10th. THis is right where I would expect them. Word has it a couple of these Freshman are the real deal, especially Kendall Campbell. If they can offer some great play and Deandre Smart starts like he did last season and can stay healthy they may squeak out a few more wins then expected. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm going into this season with only one expectation - that we have a better record than last season. That's it. I'm going to just sit back & enjoy being at the home games & watching the conference games on Flop sports.

Agreed on just wanting to show some improvement over last season, but we also can't afford a winless OOC schedule again this year. That start made it very hard to get excited as a fan. Presby and IUPUI were really bad last year so would like to see wins against those schools that struggled as well and pick up a couple of others.
I think the top 6 in the preseason poll is prob right. Maybe not in that order, but they stand out from the rest of the league. 7-14 will be a complete toss up IMO.
Ready for the games to start and see what the team's got.
Go Phoenix!

I think how Elon MBB does will be directly related to how quickly the 1st year players get up to speed, and I literally mean "speed". I have talked to people who have seen practice this fall. PG is really going to be the key. Campbell is absolutely the real deal. We know McKinnon has game and Smart was possibly our best forward before his injury. Success will be a function of accuracy at high speed and playing well together. But as I said above, all I'm looking for this season is solid improvement, nothing more.

I like our schedule, first and foremost. Also, mid-major MBB preseason rankings are close to meaningless because of turnover. Yes, the top 3 in the CAA look solid, but who really knows. I did like how Taylor kept the guys playing hard last year after a miserable start, that shows the beginning of a possible culture. But again, who knows. We were Uber-slow last year, I hope we at least have guys that can pick up the pace. I’m actually looking forward to finding out.
