Sneaky big game tonight against Presbyterian. A win tonight, followed by a non-D1 game would almost certainly leave us at 5-3. Presbyterian did beat Vanderbilt, so I’m expecting a good, competitive game. I believe the students are back, I would love to see at least 100-150 there tonight (baby steps).

I will be surprised if PC is able to run with us. I watched their game against Tennessee Tech & wasn't horribly impressed. I'm not saying they're not good, they are. I just expected more from a team that has their resume.

Well, we did our best to give the game away. But a win is win. One thing is crystal clear, NOTHING is going to come easy for this team. Make sure you bring your Tums if you are coming to Schar. Fun game though!

Again we tried to give away a game in the second half. We cannot continue this pattern come Conference play or we will be in for a long and disappointing season. Also need to improve interior defense as teams are getting too many easy shots at the rim. Couple of questions I would like to understand concerning coaching decisions. At the end of the game the Blue Hose missed two Free Throws then got the put back to tie the game. Why was Issac Harrell in the game under the basket. I think The size and physicality of Deandre Smart or Kendall Campbell would of been a better player to be in that position. Also why was Max on the bench the last minute of the game including the last 3 seconds after the time out. I know it worked out with Higgins hitting the game winner but questionable on these two decisions. Also, it appears that Jadun Michael has found his spot at the end of the bench. 4th straight game he got no playing time. He is behind Ned Hull now. I was really surprised he did not transfer out after last seasons after finding his way to the end of the bench. Never been a fan of his. Saw him play a lot at Burlington School and always thought he was over rated. Has to be the biggest disappointment in the history of Elon Basketball. Our highest recruit ever and he gets no playing time. I'm OK with the decision.

Glad to get the win and it was definitely an exciting ending. Would have preferred not to blow a 19 pt lead. On the bright side, they fought through and won the ETSU and Presbyterian game despite almost giving it away. That's ultimately what OOC is intended to do. Get them ready for conference play. Hopefully they are learning from these near misses. When they are pushing they are very effective. As soon as they try to slow things up and work the clock things start to unravel.
As hoops4life mentioned, still very worried about our lack of defense inside. Not sure how much the Rutgers transfer would have helped add some depth down low, but teams are having a field day in the paint. Elon was outscored 56-24 in the paint to relatively small Presbyterian team. Fortunate that they shot 33% from the FT line or could have been a different outcome.
Anyhow, I hate to be too critical, because they are already well beyond where they were last year. It's fun to watch Elon basketball at the moment and that's all I can ask for.
Go Phoenix!
