Phoenix Looks to Run Winning Streak to Three at Georgia

Game Notes
ELON, N.C. -- The Elon men's basketball squad is coming off of back-to-back victories over Erskine and Georgia State and will look for the third 'W' in a row on Tuesday night at Georgia. Tuesday's contest is slated to tip at 7:30 p.m. from Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga. The last time Elon won three consecutive games was during an eight-game winning streak during the 2005-06 season which started with a 74-69 victory at Clemson on December 30, 2005 and ran through a January 23, 2006 overtime win against Furman.
This game can be heard live on 920 AM WPCM and over the internet at elonphoenix.com with the pregame show beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Elon (2-1) is coming off of a 71-49 victory over Georgia State on Saturday night. In that game, the Phoenix saw Montell Watson (15 points), Ola Atoyebi (14 points) and Monty Sanders (12 points) all finish the game with double figure scoring outputs. Adam Constantine once again paced Elon on the boards by grabbing eight rebounds.
The Phoenix blistered the nets, shooting at a 57.8 percent clip from the field while holding the Panthers to a 37.5 shooting percentage.
The 49 points allowed were the fewest surrendered by Elon since a 50-48 victory over Western Carolina on January 21, 2006.
Watson leads the Phoenix in scoring this year, averaging 15.0 points per game. Chris Long (11.3 ppg), Atoyebi (11.0 ppg) and Constantine (10.0 ppg) are also adding double figures in scoring. Constantine is averaging 10.0 rebounds per contest as well.
Georgia (2-0) enters the game with victories over Jacksonville State (107-65) and Grambling State (83-70). The Bulldogs' leading scorer is Sundiata Gaines who is pouring in 16.5 points per outing. They also boast four double-digit scoring performers as Billy Humphrey (13.0), Jeremy Price (12.0) and Chris Barnes (10.0) are chipping in decent scoring numbers. On the boards, Jeremy Jacob is pulling down an average of 7.5 rebounds.
Elon is 0-4 all-tme against current SEC members, dropping one game each to Arkansaas, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The Phoenix has never faced off with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State or Ole Miss.
