EU99, it was good to see you at the game last night, sorry that we just sucked!!! We did seem to travel well....Saw a lot a maroon around the game. Well, there weren't many positives to this game last night. VCU didn't miss a shot until about 7-8 minutes into the game, they went 7-8 on treys and were just way too quick for us to try and get anything going. The team looked really, REALLY soft on the interior. It seemed like they wouldn't use any muscle to take the ball to the hoop. Chris Long is going to be a force by the end of the year. He has a really smooth shot. He is just a little too slow to handle the ball. Watson is the man that needs to be QB-ing this team. Ola Atoybei looked better in the 2nd, but that was about midway through the 2nd and VCU put in many from the bench. This was just a bad matchup, but not nearly as bad as last year's mactup On a positive note, it was nice to take a 5 minute drive and see Elon play. I wish they would play UR in basketball again.

I'm honestly suprised we lost by less than 20. Against this VCU team, thats a shock. We've done pretty well against the big conference teams (yes, I'm including the Colonial in this).
On paper, this loss doesn't look that bad. They just shot lights out. We shot over 50% in the second half and won the second half. There is progress. On top of that, only NINE turnovers....that will keep you in games.
Western is the next true measuring stick Tuesday.

Good to see you as well EP. I had a good time. I knew going in that VCU was just a tough matchup for us. VCU's athleticism can be tough for a lot of teams, just ask Duke. They shot lights out, passed the ball well and were pushing our big men around on the interior for most of the game. At points it seemed like they were just having a shootaround and our guys were there enjoying the show. Anyhow, I think there are positives to take from this game. The team continued to play tough, took care of the ball and shot pretty well in the 2nd half. I think the level of athleticism between the two teams was the glaring difference in the game. Fortunately I can't think of one team in the SoCon that can bring that to the court, so I'm not overly concerned. Hopefully this game taught the guys a few things and they can get a win streak going on this upcoming homestand.
Go Phoenix!
