It's time for Nestor's departure. I say put Justus at the helm for the remainder of the season.. Can't hurt to see what he can do.
I've heard he will be getting some head coaching positions following this year.

I've heard he will be getting some head coaching positions following this year. You're right it couldn't hurt, but that's not the way to go. I had low expectations coming in to this season, and this loss (among others) have lowered them even more. There are a few things the school needs to work on to improve b-ball, but it needs to start with a NEW COACH!

This really is out of control....i feel there needs to be an email campaign started to Dave Blank stating we are a "big time school" now so you are going to be hearing it from alumni. What is going on with the program is an embarrassment to both players, students, staff and alumni! I am completely for Joel taking the team over and allowing him to recruit. This is an important time for recruiting and if i was a high school kid there is no way i would want to come play here if i knew the coach was on the outs and doesn't show compassion....can we say i see another "Bobby Petrino" in the sports world..except this one hasn't done us the courtesy of leaving yet.....

I don't agree with shoving anyone out the door midseason. I'm all for Nestor finishing the year and then hopefully Blank will make a move then. I really do like Nestor, but it's painfully clear that this is about as good as we can expect from his teams. Even the year he won the north the overall record was only 15-14.
I don't know that I want Justus taking over the team either, which isn't to say he wouldn't do a good job, but I'd kind of like a fresh start with the coaching staff. This is what Blank was brought in to do, so it'll be interesting to see what he does.
Go Phoenix!

"Prior to his second stint with Wake Forest, Nestor served George Mason University as its head coach for five years (1988-1993), leading the Patriots to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 1989. That squad claimed the Colonial Athletic Association tournament title, finishing the year 20-11. The 1989-90 team also reached the 20-victory plateau. He resigned after five years and a 68-81 record at George Mason to join Odom on his staff at Wake Forest in 1994."
Sounds eerily familiar.

If Nestor gets booted mid-season, Mike Preston would take over since he is the assistant with the most experience.
If we were having a season like Furman is having, then probably a mid-season move would occur.
I have to wonder if Western is in the same boat. They also have shown no progress though they have had more extraordinary situations than we have.

I am not the person to start calling for someones head. I like nester. Hes a great guy and has done a lot for this program. Plus hes done nothing wrong, like starting his second string son in the lead role. But im starting to think it might be time. One positive is we have not had a blow out this season, excluding one game. But hes not winning games we should win. Our team has proven it can win against good teams so the only fault i can figure is scouting. were not getting the needed info on the other teams. We need to figure out why the recruits are not comming and why were coming up just short. Again im not calling for his head yet, but i am egarly awaiting baseball season

Guys, I was at the game and you didn't play that badly. You caught us on a rare night when we could actually shoot the basketball. We shot 63% from beyond the arc. It's hard to beat a team that does that. We had a player that hasn't been so great make eight threes. Nobody could have seen that coming.
You did appear to be well coached. Neither of our teams will out athlete many other teams.

That is true when one team is hot its hard to beat. But the deff of a good coach is being able to make adjustments to counter games like that. In your observations did we make any radical changes to our off/def in the second half??

EFF, the Panthers went 1-15 and lost a lot of close games. That doesn't justify anything.
Nestor hasn't been the world's worst coach and frankly, not close to that, but things have become stale in Elon basketball. We're not winning and people aren't coming to the games. We've had three 1,000+ crowds, which is not good (and one was barely above 1,000).

Isn't it possible adjustments were made by the staff and the players just didn't execute?
