Wofford is coming to elon for the season fanally this weekend. I am making the trip up so anyone is welcome to join me in the stands. Also i am going to see if I can get a computer from Media Services, going to be tough since its graduation, but if I can I will go live in the chat room sometime around game time. Jones will also be making what might be his last broadcast, not sure if hes doing sat. So we should all tune in to give him our sendoff and wish him luck in the future career of broadcasting.

offence played sloppy tonight and even with 10+ strikeouts we could not pull out a win. What scares me is that tomorrow the first base ump who sucked goes to the plate. He did the CoC game and had the strike zone the size of the ball. Looks like its going to be a tough pitching day. With UNCGs loss today we secure 3 if we win 1 or uncg looses tomorrow. hopefully we can still win the series

It was a shame about this weekend. We did ok pitching but just could not hit the ball. There was one bad ump but his calls went both ways. All in all we just didnt come focused to this game. One good thing that come s out of this weekend is the realization anyone can win and any one can loose. IE davidson over CoC. So going into the tourny anything can happen. Lets hope our bats get hot and we fight like the team we are.

Booker saves best for Elon's last home game By Bob Sutton / Times-News May 20, 2007 3:00 AM
ELON — On what could have turned out as one of the longest, most excruciating days in recent Elon University baseball history, senior pitcher Zach Booker made short work of Wofford.
Booker’s first collegiate complete game carried the Phoenix to an 8-1 victory in its regular-season finale Saturday at Latham Park.
Wofford won the doubleheader’s first game 6-4, but Booker’s outing and some early offense prevented a series sweep for lowly Wofford.
“It’s probably one of my best outings,” the former Western Alamance standout said of the five-hitter. “I guess it was good for our team. I don’t need complete games on my resumé.”
Many Elon players began their day with commencement exercises on campus before heading to the ball park, where nine seniors were honored.
Elon (29-27 overall, 15-12 Southern Conference) will take the No. 3 seed to this week’s Southern Conference Tournament in Charleston, S.C., with an opening game Wednesday vs. sixth-seeded Georgia Southern.
Wofford (25-31, 8-19) tied for last place and owns the ninth seed and a date with Furman in Tuesday’s single-elimination portion of the tournament.
“This wasn’t the weekend we wanted,” Elon center fielder Chris Dove said. “We gave them two out of three. Hopefully, we can build on things going into the conference tournament.”
Booker (5-4), who was buoyed by steady defense and double plays in each of the first two innings, might have started that process. He took a shutout to the eighth.
“I appreciate (coach Mike Kennedy) because he had enough respect for me to let me finish what I started,” said Booker, a right-hander who played his first three college seasons for UNC Wilmington. “You want to end this on a positive note in the last home game.”
Kennedy said: “He attacked the strike zone. It was a lot of fun to watch.”
And quick, too. The game was an Elon season-short 2 hours, 9 minutes.
Elon’s first four batters scored in the nightcap, with Drew Davis and Ryan Addison driving in runs before Chris Vasami’s two-run single. Booker’s two-run bloop double in the eighth completed the scoring.
Vasami said seniors went with the high pants (meaning showing socks in a traditional manner) in the last game to alter the team’s fortunes.
Wofford, which allowed more than 20 runs per game in being swept last weekend at home to Western Carolina, limited Elon to a total of 15 runs in the three games. The Phoenix appeared to be pressing on offense at times.
“The last games at home, you’re trying to do so much,” Addison said.
In the first game, Elon loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, but produced only one run on Davis’ long sacrifice fly to left field.
Wofford scored the tying and go-ahead runs off Elon starter Will Romanowicz, who was plucked in the ribs on a ball thrown by catcher Pat Irvine on a bizarre sixth-inning sequence. Wofford’s Bradford Eaves broke for second base on a wild pitch. Irvine’s throw struck Romanowicz (5-3), who pinned the ball next to his body.
“You hate to see it happen, especially to a guy who’s out there throwing good,” Kennedy said.
Romanowicz finished the inning but gave up two runs. He has sore ribs.
“It felt like what a tranquilizer might feel like, I’m guessing,” Romanowicz said. “I’ve never seen that, never even heard about (such a thing).”
Wofford starter Adam Kearney (3-5), who entered the game with a 9.64 earned run average, pitched seven innings of seven-hit ball. Elon led 3-2 after Mike Melillo’s RBI single in the fifth.
Dove stole home for the game’s first run. He and Adam Weaver each had four hits among Elon’s 20 in the doubleheader.
The twinbill featured several defensive gems, including Dove’s over-the-fence snare in center field of Eaves’ first-inning shot in the opener.

that catch by dove was amazing but not as good as the one at WCU from what i hear. I was listening on the radio to that game and you could hear the dead silence by the WCU fans

Don't forget Dove's two catches to start the Carolina game, the first a HR-saver on the first pitch of the game and the next a catch with his back to the wall after covering a ton of ground to get to it in the gap in left-center.
