Elon Baseball Set For Fall World Series
Five-Game Series Starts Friday

Chase Austin has hit .414 this Fall.ELON, N.C. -- The Elon University baseball team will begin its Annual Fall World Series this Friday, November 2. The squad will also play on Saturday and Sunday. Friday's game will begin at 4 p.m., Saturday's at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 2p.m. The best of five series will conclude with single games next Saturday and Sunday (November 9-10). Assistant coaches Robbie Huffstetler and Grant Rembert will handle the coaching duties for each team.
The Gold squad (Coach Rembert) appears to have the edge based on fall performances on the mound. Veteran lefty Jesse Lewter will start game one opposite of Cardinal lefty J.D. Reichenbach. Lewter leads all pitchers this fall with 18 strikeouts in 14.0 innings pitched.
Coach Huffstetler's Cardinal squad features some of this falls’ hottest hitters for the Phoenix. Sophomore Chase Austin is hitting .414 with five doubles this fall. Of his 12 hits, eight have gone for extra bases. Junior catcher/outfielder Pat Irvine is hitting at a .310 clip with two homeruns while transfer catcher Dallas Tarleton is hitting .321 with a team-leading 11 RBI this fall.
Leading the Gold team offensively are senior infielder Matt Hill who has hit .423 and is tied for the team lead with 11 RBI. Young Harris JC transfer Mike Lobacz is hitting .375 with three doubles and has 10 base on balls this fall. Surry CC transfer outfielder/pitcher Kory Harrilchak is hitting .405 with team-highs in runs scored (15) and triples (three). In 11.0 innings pitched, he has 11 srikeouts and a team-leading 0.80 ERA.
Saturday’s rotation will feature freshman right-hander Ken Ferrer (Gold) versus freshman lefty Jimmy Reyes (Cardinal). On the mound Sunday will be freshman righty Jared Kernodle (Cardinal) and junior lefty Harrilchak.
All intersquad games are open to the public.
