Elon Adds 12 Recruits to 2007 Football Roster

ELON, N.C. – Elon coach Pete Lembo today announced the addition of 12 incoming student-athletes to the Phoenix football program. These 12 recruits will join Elon’s returnees and 22 NLI signees for the upcoming 2007 campaign.
“We are excited to welcome these young men to the Phoenix football family,” Lembo said. “They are all great kids who are excited to be coming to Elon. These quality players will help us build the Elon football program into a competitive force in the Southern Conference.”
Brooks Edwards, a 5-10, 215-pound linebacker from Holly Springs, N.C., played for coach Ron Pendergraft at Middle Creek High School. He is the son of C. Lee and Carrie Edwards.
Warren Fischer, a 6-5, 250-pound offensive tackle and defensive end from Shallotte, N.C., played for coach Jimmy Fletcher at West Brunswick High School. An Elon football legacy, he is the son of former Phoenix football player Henry and Mary Fischer.
Joe Griesser, a 6-1, 220-pound linebacker from Tampa, Fla., played for coach David Mitchell at Wharton High School. He is the son of Fran and Connie Griesser.
A.J. Harris, a 5-11, 205-pound running back and return specialist from Ocean View, N.J., played for coach Mark Impagliazzo at Ocean City High School. He is the son of Al and Alisa Harris.
Colby Holloway, a 6-2, 230-pound defensive lineman from Garner, N.C., played for coach Nelson Smith at Garner Senior High School. He is the son of Mitchell and Pandora Holloway.
Taylor Kane, a 6-3, 240-pound defensive lineman and long snapper from Needham, Mass., played for coach David Duffy at Needham High School. He is the son of James and Sally Ann Kane.
Erik Kendall, a 6-2, 175-pound defensive back from Hickory, N.C., played for coach John Worley at Hickory High School. He is the son of Peter Kendall and Linda Fields.
Andy Leffler, a 5-10, 170-pound wide receiver and kicker from Dublin, Ohio, played for coach Mark Barren at Columbus Academy. He is the son of Jon and Vickie Leffler.
Albert Lemus, a 5-11, 205-pound linebacker from Lyman, S.C., played for coach Bobby Bentley at James F. Byrnes High School. He is the son of Mauricio and Luz Lemus.
Brett McQuilkin, a 5-11, 190-pound defensive back from Columbia, Md., played for coach Chuck Fales at Atholton High School. He is the son of Frank and Julie McQuilkin.
Billy Watkins, a 6-2, 200-pound quarterback from Mebane, N.C., played for coach John Kirby at Eastern Alamance High School. He is the son of Billy and Susan Watkins.
Matt Williamson, a 6-3, 245-pound offensive lineman from Lumberton, N.C., played for coach Bill Dockery at Lumberton Senior High School. An Elon football legacy, he is the son of former Elon football player Frank and Gayle Williamson.
