Elon volleyball team wins divisional crown November 14, 2010 1:12 AM Times-News ELON — The Elon University volleyball team won the Sotuhern Conference’s North Division title by sweeping visiting Western Carolina 25-12, 25-16, 25-20 in Saturday’s regular-season finale at Alumni Gym.
“If feels wonderful to win the North Division,” Elon coach Mary Tendler. “It’s something we’ve been striving for and we’ve been consistent through the conference matches and that’s what it takes to win. It was a sad night saying goodbye to the three seniors but still happy because the night ended up so well for us.”
Elon (20-13, overall, 11-6 Southern Conference) will be the North Division’s top seed for the league tournament later this week at Davidson.
Seniors Lauren Copenhagen, Sarah Schermerhorn and Lizzie West combined for 16 kills, 21 digs and four blocks. Juniors Caroline Lemke and Traci Stewart led the way for
Elon with Lemke earning 11 kills and Stewart recording eight kills with no errors. Junior Megan McMahon tallied a match-high 36 assists. Sophomore Ali Deatsch recorded 18 digs for the Phoenix.
Western Carolina finished its season at 6-26, 1-15.

Congrats...hope they can win the conference tournament. From the standings it looks like the South Division is stacked.
