Surprised there was no mention of the quality win for the soccer team Saturday night. They beat Charlotte 2-0. Charlotte was the runner-up in the national championship game last year and returns a number of players from that team. Hopefully they can keep it up going into conference play. www.elonphoenix.com/news/2012/9/22/MSOC_0922125937.aspxGo Phoenix!

Defintely a big win for the program. I read that over the weekend.
Sitting at 5-2, with a game against Radford before heading to the first SoCon game. It's shaping up to be a pretty good year.
Powell has done a pretty good job at Elon so far. 6 straight winning seasons, regular and tourney titles.....

I think I saw that Charlotte was ranked #6. Also Powell has done great recruiting. Last years wins over the ACC schools helped. After one of them, I think maybe Wake, there was a recruit who commit the morning after the big win. These big wins are definitely helping the program.

Was traveling for work this week and just noticed that Elon beat #18 WVU this week on the road. Chris Thomas is having a record breaking year as well.
Hoping they can continue to play well enough to be considered as an at-large team for the tourney. Two top 25 wins helps I'm sure, but the tourney field is much smaller for soccer. I think 48 teams.
Go Phoenix!

What a great win! They need to cart Thomas around campus to keep those legs and feet, free from injury!

What a great win! They need to cart Thomas around campus to keep those legs and feet, free from injury! No doubt. He's #2 in the nation in scoring at the moment. Another big game tomorrow night against conference favorites Furman. Two big games for the Phoenix tomorrow. Go Phoenix!

Now ranked #17 in College Soccer America poll and #25 in College Soccer News. The team needs to stay focused though. A lot of good teams remaining in conference play and some ACC opponents still to come.
Go Phoenix!

The team got another big win against Wake last night. UNCG and Duke left. Really need to win both of those to keep at large hopes alive. 4-1 against ranked teams this season.
Go Phoenix!

beat me to it ELON, N.C. – Chris Thomas scored his 50th career goal as the Elon men’s soccer team posted its fifth shutout of the season in a 1-0 win against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Wake Forest on Tuesday night, Oct. 23, at Rudd Field. The No. 13 Demon Deacons (9-3-4) became the third ranked team to fall and be shutout at home for the Phoenix this season. Elon (11-4-1) has now posted shutouts three of its past four matches against ACC opponents, including two straight against the Demon Deacons. The Phoenix also improved to 4-1 on the year against ranked competition. elonphoenix.com/news/2012/10/23/MSOC_1023125351.aspx

Great win - only goal was a PK, but a win is a win. And the defense is doing an outstanding job.
