Heard from some insiders, we gave Swepson a 4 or 5 year contract. Sources say, he isn't resigning and Elon doesn't have the money to fire him with the SoCon exit fees and CAA entrance fees.
It is what it is, for a while.
Just think of next year though, the CAA has 5-7 top 25 teams; the SoCon has 2-3. Should make things much worse before we can hope at it getting better. Good thing this massacres with be on TV.

From everything I've heard he is not on a long term deal. For what that is worth.

I certainly hope you are wrong. Any more of this and our program will be damaged for several years to come. There won't be enough tailgating programs to bring 2000 Elon fans to Rhodes much less 10,000. I've said this several times over the last couple of years: Elon is rapidly transitioning to a basketball school. Nothing horribly wrong with that but it is a shame looking at our traditions and history. Hamilton had one fatal flaw, he wouldn't play the best QB on the team in favor of his son. Swepson has many. He is attempting to learn head coaching at Elon's football program's expense. I am convinced now that this is something he will never achieve. Honestly, he may be damaging his own career in the offing. He might be wise to find another position coaching job or coordinator job now while he still can. Another year or two of this & he may be lucky to find something in D2.

fc97 You said you were done with football and you're moving on to basketball. As for Swepson, If he were a man of honor and integrity, he would send a letter to Blank that reads something like this.
Mr Blank, I have failed miserably, I have never been invested in this program (as evidenced by me still living in Raleigh) I really don't care about Elon, the players, fans or other supporters. I only took this job because I thought it would be a good stepping stone to a better job. Behind closed doors I have told the players they are a bunch of losers and the fact is.... I am the loser. I have come to the conclusion that my arrogant and never take responsibility personality is not what this program and university needs so there fore I'm doing the right thing now. I do not what any severance pay as I do not deserve it. Spend that money on fixing the problem I created. Sincerely, Jason Swepson.
If he dosn't go, I know of at least one starter who will transfer because he has never played for a losing program and the one liners from the recruiting days were just one liners.

You have to wonder what went on in the locker room at halftime yesterday. The O went from being a machine to looking like a mediocre D2 team in the 2nd. After seeing what Swepson will say in public, there is no telling what he might say in private.

Yes, I said I was done with football for the season. That's not saying I don't care about football, that's saying I am not putting aside time to go to more games or listen on the radio if I have other stuff to do.
I'll continue to pass on information as I get it.
fc4life, he has at least one more year on his contract.

You have to wonder what went on in the locker room at halftime yesterday. The O went from being a machine to looking like a mediocre D2 team in the 2nd. After seeing what Swepson will say in public, there is no telling what he might say in private. Need to vent: This unfortunately continues a trend that exemplifies the tenure of Swepson.....they are incapable of making in game adjustments. Even if we have some success in the first half the opponent goes into halftime and makes adjustments and we get stagnant....remember the App St. game 3 years ago....we were up 24-0 at half and lost. Examples this season are the A&T game and yesterday vs. Coastal. Our D is horrible and remember they were saying this was going to be the strength of our team......I am convinced that Jason and the staff do not have a clue. This has to be his last season (I thought a breakeven season would save him but am now convinced that is a pipe dream). This year is a lost cause and next year will be worse in the CAA unless we change coaches. I will still attend the home games because I support Elon and wish the best for the kids.....which means giving them competent coaching they can believe in. How in the world can go into the locker room when you are down by only 4 at half and say as he did that the team seemed lifeless. See quote from TN this morning: Swepson pointed to Coastal Carolina’s touchdown in the final minute of the first half that flipped Elon’s 28-25 lead into a 32-28 deficit. The Chanticleers took possession with 1:31 remaining before halftime and ripped off 76 yards to score in a matter of 63 seconds. That turn of events left some Elon players wearing lifeless expressions during halftime, Swepson said. “Seeing their faces, it kind of looked like the game was over,” he said. “We tried to do everything as coaches to create some energy, get the hype going, because it was still a ballgame, obviously. “But we came out in the second half and just couldn’t do anything right. (The Chanticleers) caught the fire. Their belief was getting stronger and ours was dwindling.” This tells me the kids do not have faith in the coaches.....maybe I am wrong on this but it seems to be trending this way. Enough venting.....bring on Basketball.

Well, it is another example of "we did everything" and "the kids screwed it up" type comment.

Lane Kiffin was fired today..... Let's get after him ASAP? the domino effect of this move may just involve Pete Lembo. I want to see some real improvement in this program and the players have to step up and make some plays.
