Really hate to see this many guys banged up, esp. so many who we count on to play a lot of minutes. Could be a long game tomorrow - let's hope that we have some awesome backups who have a breakout game. Looks like we are really hit hard in the OL and RB roles. Homecoming weekend against a tough opponent...do we take off redshirts? I know it is good to preserve guys til next year -- but how does it affect our recruiting if we are too thin to compete?

Was at the game yesterday and it was hard to watch. At times it seems the best offense we had was the penalties on SB defense. And when we did get going interceptions killed us. Our defense continues to play their hearts out and are keeping us in games for the most part. I have faith in Coach Strosky and his staff and with a couple of years to recruit the right talent/size, we will be OK.
I was disappointed in the size of the crowd for Homecoming.....seemed light to me. Is this disinterest of alumni given the teams record over the past few years or is it nobody knows/cares about teams from the NE (SB, NH, Maine, etc.). Even last year the home side was more crowded. It was not the student section...I thought that was fine....it was the 200 sections...not full at all. Just wondering.
On a positive note.....the team is not giving up and effort is great. This bodes well for the future when we have better talent.

6120 for homecoming. That has to be the worst homecoming attendance I have seen since we were D-II, maybe since I was in school.
I think the fans are starting to take a why bother attitude. I don't think its the opponents. Look at what Stony Brook drew in 2007, it was nearly 5700. So, roughly what that means is the alumni and homecoming crowd didn't show up, it was the same old people that always show.

A winning team will draw better crowds. But more than that, an exciting team will pack the place. At this point, there's no spark, life or excitement to this team. Yes, the D is commendable, but the offense needs to become something closer to thrilling. Then they will come.

I agree with Homer also. What boggled me was we didn’t even try to pressure or block their punts. After our first punt return was muffled for a fumble, they punted 6 more times, all were either downed or fair caught. On the line, one or two players would meekly penetrate the line for a yard or two and all the rest would straddle the line, run parallel to it than fade back to try to set up a return. Only problem was on everyone of those punts, at least 5 SBU players were right at K Brown when he caught or let the ball go past him, so dropping back to set up a return was clearly ineffective.
Knowing points would be hard to come by against SBU’s #1 defense one would think we would try to do something exciting like block a punt, especially when a couple of their punts were in the shadow of their endzone in the second half.
This is a coaching thing that can be fixed - no need to be conservative at this stage of the season as there is nothing to lose by trying.
