Interesting that Loughery is still listed. Hopefully that story is not finished.

Starting Center Thomas McGuire just transferred. Not sure where. I do not know the situation but He may have credits and have his degree as an upcoming 5th yr guy and can transfer and get work done a post grad degree One thing was need a better snapper as last game I saw the snap on every play seemed to be high and short making Quinn make an extra move or 2 before He was getting into a play, Stevie Wonder could see this and can be fixed through coaching and practice. I hate We lose a starter w/ that much invested, He apparently was and still is a great kid and hard worker. I wish him all the future success that He pursues.

Thomas started 20 games over the last two years for Elon. The year before (his rs freshman year) he played in 6 games and after the CAA academic all conference team comes out he will be a three year all conference academic performer. He will be graduating in May Cum Laude (with honors). He was also the President of CCM (the Catholic youth organization on campus) So feel free to bash his snapping if you want but most would say he represented the team well on and off the field. The fact is that Elon doesn't have a masters program in Education and he would essentially be wasting a semester academically if he stayed. So.. He did what many squared away young men would do and decided to balance the student and the athlete by looking for a school that has a graduate program in education to play his 5th year. I might also add that he made the decision in time for the coaches to plan on using his scholarship for another incoming player.
I suppose it would be more interesting if there was a more sinister reason but that wouldn't be the truth.
BTW. We will always be Iowa Elon Fans

I know Thomas & think he's an outstanding young man with truckloads of personality. He will be successful at any endeavor he pursues. I will certainly miss him both as a football player and a person. Best of luck to Thomas. BTW, wherever he goes I hope he's able to use his remaining eligibility.

Elon also has informed students that playing a sport and pursuing a Masters doesn't work. They rather encourage a double major. The requirements and commitments for Masters work is not conducive to an athlete's football schedule.
But what a wonderful example of what a student/athlete can be. Proud to have had him Live the Moroon Life.
