Penn St wasn't exactly stellar last season. With some questions regarding the rotation, I'm hoping this will give some guys a chance to get in some solid work.

Predicted by D1Baseball to be last in the Big 10 again and here is the write up they had on them...
• Rob Cooper inherited an overmatched club in his first season at Penn State, and the Nittany Lions finished in the conference basement at 5-19. Penn State hopes its freshman class can give the program a boost, but expect some growing pains in 2015, as the Lions could lean on an all-freshman weekend rotation in LHP Taylor Lehman and RHPs Sal Biasi and Nick Distasio. Lehman has a projectable 6-foot-6 frame and good command of an 86-89 fastball, while the athletic Biasi works at 87-90 and Distasio sits at 85-88. Senior lefties Nick Hedge and Geoff Boylston, who both rely on their guile and work in the mid-80s, could also earn weekend starter jobs. Offensively, the Nittany Lions are hoping for more production from redshirt junior OF Greg Guers (.246/.303/.363), who has good lefthanded bat speed and could hit for some power. 3B Christian Helsel, a transfer from Ole Miss, brings athleticism and some offensive upside to the infield mix.

If you want to attract super regional possibilities you need a first class stadium. while our field is top notch, we could do better on the press box and extending the stands. Ive always said extend them down the first base side and to the end of the dugout on the 3rd base. Leave the open sitting area. Work on a second level. It could be done we might loose some parking spots and the side street, but if we want to recruit the big boys we need it. But money talks and as it has been in the past its usually current parents footing the bill, with most of the athletic budget going into Football and now basketball. What we really need is a ex player to throw money back....... after he goes pro.

I believe they have hosted 3 regionals with one of those also being the host of the super regional in the next round if I am correct. Only one of those regionals was actually at their on-campus field. They have the luxury of having a very nice 6500 seat minor league stadium minutes down the road in Myrtle Beach. I am only pointing out that they have been quite good for a long time without having these top notch facilities. This is a major boost for their program to get that on-campus.
It would be nice to have something on-campus like that in the future, but would we have the people to regularly fill something much bigger than what we have now? They averaged around 1300 people a game during their 2010 run I read and probably do pretty decent year-in, year-out. Just saying that if we upgraded it would sit quite empty a lot I think. Plus, as much success as we have had, it isn't like we have been in a position to even be considered to host a regional yet. They started making changes after they got passed up as a host in 2005 and had to travel to Tempe as the 1 seed because they didn't have the facilities. That will really put a sense of urgency to upgrade right there. If we get in a similar situation maybe we could try to use Burlington Athletic Stadium which holds 3500 I believe
Just my thoughts on the subject.

WOW I dont know if I can take another year of this. Elon played some great ball but implodes in 3 innings allowing 6 in the 4th 4 in the 8th and 5 in the 9th. With the go ahead run at the plate Elon squeeks it out 16-15. If we didnt put up the 7 in the 7th we would of lost this one. Lets get back on it tomorrow and go for the sweep.

Wasn't able to watch it - I was out skiing all day. I was watching updates and thought we had it and checked back and was surprised by the final score for sure. Hopefully this was just a blip and the bullpen pulls it together. A win is a win especially to start 1-0 rather than 0-1. A sweep tomorrow would be a great way to start.

I know PSU isn't the #1 team in the B10, but I still say its very nice to start the season off with a win against a power conference team. Our middle relief & set-up pitching came through, mostly, when needed, in all 3 games. I also know that pitching is the part of the PSU game that is most suspect, but I can't remember the last time we had a collective 45 hits and a team batting average of .433 over a three game series. Extremely happy to see those stats.

I think weather had a lot to do with it. Its was brutal Friday night. And to be out their for two games on saturday. The fielders weren't moving as quick and some well placed hits lead to extra bases. All in all Im proud of the team going 3-0 this weekend agains a powerhouse conference.

From what I can tell, it looks like this weekend's games has been moved to Aiken, SC. Two with Ball State and one with High Point.
South Dakota State's schedule is still showing Elon, but Indiana State looks to be going to Florida to play 3 against Vandy.
Go Phoenix!

It looks that way too High Point plays two with ball one with us and we go back next tuesday. Not sure what other teams dropped. Its yet to be announced by Elon or changed by us. Could be a back up plan waiting till today to see what the weather forecast will be. Either way a call will have to be made soon.
